Description
For Demos. <3Possibly the largest file i've worked with to date. I might do some more postproduction on this in a while, but for now, i'll put it out there and ask for some nitpicking. Its great to do things like this again, thank god for the holidays.
God knows why they're using lua for scripting planet systems in the future, but who cares
download for supermassive version.

Hah, thank you. I'm sure I put this up on DRLFF, but if you're just seeing it now, glad you like it

Oh, and I think I'll point out that this looks a little like Europa.

Well, i generally play with ideas on paper or a photoshop canvas, just sketching stuff.
for spaceart, i might lay out the planets differently, and plan to have a fractal somewhere, and look at where light sources will be etc. basically, just play with the scene. infernius went through 5 layout redesigns and 4 background redesigns before it got finished. maybe had 3 layout changes but no background changes.
for other things, i start from blank masses ('ink blobs' made of PS scribbling) or a human form and work from there, cutting things out, adding things on, etc etc. I should do more anatomy studies, but once you get how joints, tissues and proportions sort of work posing people or objects is pretty easy.
Its pretty impossible to explain, "how do you art?", so i might do some process sheets soon.
look at [link] for some process stuff, and a generally awesome artist.
i'll do something like that soon to show you :}

cheers man, good to see you back on dA.

hopefully i can find more time, and make it work. good to see you back anyway.

Yeah that's pretty much how it goes. I'm hoping I'll find my camera charger around somewhere, because it's $45 for a new one.

Nice work. I haven't much more to say, other than that, its detailed well, though I think the planet looks a little too 2D, in that, I mean it lacks detail.

1bardesign In reply to Deathbal101 [2009-07-26 04:39:40 +0000 UTC]
i'll try to get more detail into the planet texture next time.. did you fullview it though? the texture is pretty detailed.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Deathbal101 In reply to 1bardesign [2009-07-26 04:43:56 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I saw how detailed it is, but it seems so... Flat. It doesn't need detail as much as it needs something on it. Maybe it was intentional. It looks kind of like a 'Damaged Concrete Floor' texture off some game.
And the explosion on the bottom left looks a little... Off? As in too transparent.

yeah, true on the texture. i'll make sure to do bumping better next time.
also, which explosion?

The one on the bottom left of the planet. It looks a little bit too transparent. Maybe its just your style. ::shrug
Otherwise, very awesome.
