Full drawing 30” x 40” this image 7” x 7”
This is the Second element in this drawing, the sky and bulb being the first.
This is a drawing of my step-fathers eye. An eye that’s seventy-eight years old, an eye akin to hammered gold. An eye that’s experienced prisoner of war camps and the death of many comrades. It’s been witness to beating cancer once and now in the dusk of his years to lung cancer. This symbol speaks of strength and vulnerability; it alludes to the end of one journey and the beginning of another.

If this is truly a drawing, then it is, without a doubt, the single best pencil drawing I've seen in my life. You, my friend, are on a whole other plane than 99.9% of the world's artists. The realism of this eye boggles the mind. It's so good, I'm having a hard time believing it's not a photo. But judging by your other work (I've only seen the Occasional Angel with the model so far), it's entirely feasible that it IS merely some graphite on paper.
Love the synopsis of the piece... and I'm sorry to hear about your dad... I can relate.
I can't decide if your talent inspires me, or makes me want to never ever again try to call myself an artist. After seeing this, I will feel like a liar.

I appreciate the good words but for me it a continuum of a process I started years ago, I don’t look at it as particularly good nor bad but part of a journey to see how far I can go. I am proud of my accomplishments but only in the sense I have never given up nor has the passion waned. Thank you so much

if I could just find one thing in this drawing that would make me believe that it is, in fact, a drawing and not a photograph....then I would believe that this is possible in art...until then, I'm unconvinced that this is a drawing...its just too good to be true!

Well thank you, the way these drawings look on a screen is a little deceiving yes they look real but when you get close there is a celebration of line and even mark making this is an aspect of the drawings I don’t want to lose but you can’t see it in our little cyber circus.

I find my-self constantly amazed by the quality of work artist, such as your self, produce. This drawing is absolutely amazing. The effort in this drawing is so self-evident it makes it just as obvious that you cared very much for your step-father. there are no words I could use to impress upon you just how much of a true 'artist' you are.
