Description So I've worked on this Celtic knot forever it seems. Because of the move I had misplaced/buried it under a mess of other papers. However, upon working out a trade with
~Tired-Al , I remembered this and am offering it as my portion of the trade.

Really, it's a basic knot. I like the design simply because it's a single ribbon and I got the pattern to spiral in on itself. Most the time has been spent coloring the silly thing. What took the most time, and even then I'm only half way finished, is the shading each time the ribbon goes under another line. It's almost too subtle to see... The blues blend together very well which I was going for. Even then there are MANY improvements I could try. Working with transparent markers can be a nuisance if you want to color within non-black lines, thus lots of purple marks where the blue and red meet.

Everything here from the penciling to the coloring was done free hand which just goes to show you sometimes I don't have the steadiest of hands.

wow O: I'm just trying to follow it and.. xD lost my spot. Must have taken a long time to do something like this. I like the dark parts how the blend in and look like shadows. Keep up the good work!

Designing the overall knot is fairly easy; getting a single ribbon is near impossible the more complex it is. First shot I gave it I ended up with two separate ribbons. Not THAT big of a deal if you color both the same because your average person couldn't find the difference. BUT I take pride to finish with a single ribbon because it's all that more difficult to create. And glad you like the shadows because they take forever... well, they are not that bad but I just need to sit down for a prolonged period of time to finish them all and add some shading to the background.

And seeing as this is what you will be trading for, is there anything else you'd like to see on it? For example, I'm considering doing the outline of the knot in red Sharpie; right now it's Copic which is transparent and the blue has bled through it. I didn't think I would have that much trouble with it, otherwise Sharpie would have been my first choice.

I'm sure it really is difficult with one ribbon as I can imagine it in my head... well possibly some people might start with a rough outline of two or something and join the ends at the end? o.O; Not sure. And yeah... the little things.. take so long. Like the drawings I *just* finished at 3AM today for my friend's surprise b-day present..one of the drawings took 7 hours and it's only like.. 2inch x 5inch..but it's as detailed as I could get it (a character, without background) [I have yet to learn how to do backgrounds n_n;; ) and yeah...another one took 6 hours, etc. And I have to say...trying to draw Ash Ketchum was so difficult. [Because trying to mimic what he looks like was impossible for me.. mainly because I didn't like the proportions of his head vs. neck/body... his neck's a twig and his head's like a giant ball... x_x

Uhh but really I'm not sure what to say about wanting anything on it. I guess maybe a pattern of some sort would look great probably. Like your wild raspberry bush was really neat-o. Sorry for not being able to think of much input for that. But don't think it so much as commissioned art or so much for the trade, but more for what you think will look good, or whatever your style flows with!~ Either way it'll look great Eric.

It's been awhile since I've seen any Celtic knots from you. I like the subtlety of the shading.. makes it look almost 3D-ish. Almost. Or maybe it's just me..

Yes, it has been a long while. And you are right, the shading is there to add another dimension. It just takes forever to do half way right and I wish the darker blue was a tad darker. You want it stand out but not too much, ya know?

I'm also wanting to shade the background somehow. It's already a very light orange if you could not tell. I'm hoping to get a dark orange line going along the spiral... either underneath the knot then fade to the blank spots or a dark orange line along the blank spots then fade to underneath the knot... not sure if either would be aesthetically pleasing.

Well, I'm not so good with helping people choose what looks good or not because I don't have a good eye for art... or so I've been told. But I think that maybe the dark orange line going underneath the knot then fade to the blank spots would look nice

Bah, you know you shouldn't listen to those people... I'll assuming I know who you're talking about. Because what you think would work was what I was leaning toward so that's what I'll do.

Haha, you probably do. Or you could always use those psychic powers of yours to be 100% certain
