Looks like it would be a real handful to fly. With that short fuselage, it would be about as stable as a unicycle.

You sir, have done a job on this that I cannot adequately express my amazement. From where I'm sitting, it looks like you combined elements of the TBD Devastator and the F4U Corsair, and is that a Mk. XIII Torpedo I spy under her fuselage?

Torpedo, yes. Other than that you are incorrect. This is the plane in question.

There were no models available, so I made one myself as best I could.

Oh I know about the Fairchild F6II Brigand, I use 'em myself. I'm talking spefically how you built this one. I've never really noticed those attributes to that ol' Red Skull Legion plane.

I'm not that great at modeling from scratch, so I try to use as many spare parts as possible. The front landing gear I got from a Corsair, along with the radiator inlets on the wing root. Propeller blades from a Zero. 20mm cannon from a P-61 Black Widow but I added the air cool vents from a M1919 .30 cal Browning and just resized. The rear turret from a B-24 nose. Main wings from a B-25 and heavily modified. The canopy from a Me-109 and also heavily modified. The rest I had to fill in using a very grainy top view picture and a lot of 3/4 views that were not helpful when measuring parts. I also did my best to measure it properly from the data on size online. It doesn't match 100% but it's pretty close.

Good eye. That's exactly where I got the turret from.

Man, that is SO COOL! I was on the design team for Crimson Skies, and I know the guy who designed the Brigand would LOVE this treatment!

What do you mean? Are you asking what is a Brigand? Just google Crimson Skies and you'll see instantly.

No I mean what is the 3D package you are using [ie. 3ds Max, lightwave, etc]

Awesome plane, awesome model!
I'd love to see the Firebrand with USAF markings - to me, it looks like a possible long-range escort fighter.

I used this plane almost exclusively. Had to lighten the armor, though...
