Description
Added a bunch more detail and starting to create the dorsal guns on this beast. As seen towards the aft of the main portion, I have also created the flight engineering section/repair shops that juts out from the main hull.Cinema 4D

Great progress. Just as an aside-how are you doing the little lights near the front? texture or modelled?

Thanks mate The windows? They are modeled

Nice one. Didn't expect someone like you to bother with textures so early on.

Someone like me? LOL! Well actually they do have a texture - just a luminance channel texture just to make them show up at the moment

Yeah, a detail obsessive.

your engineering section / repair shops are in a very vulnerable place, and seeing as how you vitally need engineering and repair when your ship gets damaged, i would reconsider their location.

They are where they are supposed to be. The ship is from the series Babylon 5 (hence B5) and that is where the designer put them

oh i see, well in that case, the designer doesn't have a very military outlook.

Not really - I disagree. Case in point - modern aircraft carriers. There for all the world to see, including it's enemies, is the superstructure, or "island" as it is sometimes called. That superstructure houses the Bridge, CIC, Flight Ops - in effect it is the brains and fighting ability of the ship itself. Yet it is extremely hard to hit even with todays technology. While I was in the Navy I had occasion to view training video's of the CIWS systems of these beasts. One such system is the Phalanx. I observed this 'Close-in-Weapon-System' shoot down a target drone and chew it to pieces - then proceed to chew the pieces to pieces before they hit the water. That is with todays technology. Who knows what they would have 250-300 years in the future.
Also another case in point is the military's penchant for redundant systems which I was intimately aware of during my time aboard nuclear subs. The hangar deck of this ship runs the entire length of the main hull of this nearly 2km long ship, fighters launch from a well protected and near hidden airlock near the bow of the ship and fighter recovery is via the starboard airlock towards the aft of the main hull. With this huge "hangar deck" I am sure they would have many redundant systems within that amount of space.
Not to mention that in any sensible fleet exercise capital ships do not act alone, but are rather parts of much larger groups that establish what is called an "Outer Defense Perimeter". Add to this that the designer of this ship incorporated 15 meter armor that consists of a new alloy-web of crystalline armor and plasteel, as well as a defense system incorporated into the armor itself called an "armor web" which would reduce the damage effect of all but the very largest beam weapons. Include with this a very intensive EWS system (part of the forward boom) that foils most precision targeting systems.

i just don't like the idea of sticking your engineering and repair bays out in from of the ship on a spike like that, just seems to me like they should be in a central location on the ship.
