Description I'm uploading this shot to show someone what I was talking about... This is an attempt to "copy" the scene from 1:31:07 into the movie Sunshine where Capa has started the emergency separation procedure and is making his way towards the main shield and payload (the bomb).

I still have some work to do here modeling wise... adding the additional ring of lights to the airlock body, add the square floodlights to the point where the shield attaches to the ship, and add some minor details here and there, adjust where the front frame-member meets where the shield struts, etc... I also have yet to model the door into the airlock body.

This is heavily Photoshopped in order to try and mimic the scene from the movie... not quite there though.

As always... Cinema 4D

Cool! This film and this scene are indeed among best moments of SF cinema ever. I understand you wanted to go into that !

Looks pretty convincing. I think just those few additional details and then it would be pretty much indistinguishable from a screenshot.

Thank you I'm going to work on that a bit - perhaps change the background a bit. Not quite sure how to get that brightness from behind like they had in the film.

AlxFX [2011-10-17 14:25:09 +0000 UTC]

looks good, but quite heavy on the grain for my liking.

2753Productions In reply to AlxFX [2011-10-17 21:34:20 +0000 UTC]

Yeah - trying to re-create that part though, quite a bit of grain in even the BlueRay version I have there. I think it was intentional on their part.

AlxFX In reply to 2753Productions [2011-10-18 15:47:12 +0000 UTC]

indeed film grain is a given trick for stuff to look a bit more believeable

I never got to see that movie, I really wanted to though Oh well, might rent the DVD next time I have the chance

I think the grainy effect adds a sense of realism too, like this is an amateur photo of a real event

2753Productions In reply to Chromattix [2011-10-17 13:38:56 +0000 UTC]

Oh no... I flew up there and took a shot Thanks Matt... yeah even in the BlueRay version I have at home this shot is somewhat grainy, and I think it was intentional on their part.
