I changed the background to a cooler blue and did away with most of the decoractive crap I had before. Also added a touch more blue on certain parts of the girl. The whole thing now looks a lot easier on the eyes, hopefully >o>Photoshop CS2 & Painter IX

omg this is sweet, especially cause the guys over here are playing soul calibur like crazy. Just to let you know, you can probably make that character almost perfectly in the character creation even down to the weapon haha.

Ah, just used brushes on overlay then add some details with normal colour. If there's a more efficient way to paint plz tell me cuz I have no technique whatsoever XP

I feel like a bitch to actually critzise you, but what really bothers me is the background, theres a.) way to much going on and b.) the oversaturated colors doesnΒ΄t really fit with the charakter in the foreground. Since the girl isnΒ΄t really influenced by the BG in terms of light, she looks like just thrown into the image ( she herself even has blue highlight and shadows) . Not that a sharp contrast is wrong, but you should always look for an interesting color combination which is fitting for the
I personally think that a simple bg with just one color (maybe grey o, to have a simple contrast for her hair... or even just plain white, though you would then need to change the shadow rendering a bit) + the shadows on the ground would have done enough to set a mood.
Also itΒ΄s done in style of the character Art for fighting games, right? So the focus should be on the Character. Even when you want to do something decorative there shouldnΒ΄t be too much distraction from your main focus...
Other than i actually like the Character itself and how you rendered her out, thus iΒ΄ll fav it

Ah no way, I totally appreciate the constructive feedback, especially from such an awesome artist like you! TwT I really want to improve my BGs, they totally suck I know >o> I was sturggling with this so much! OTL I was originally just going to leave it white but I thought it looked kinda empty.. I'm planning to sell it as a print at a convention that's coming up, so I was worried that if it looked too empty people wouldn't think it'd be worth the cost ToT Stupid, I know~~
Anyway, back to the drawing board! I'm gonna try changing it~ Thanks so much for the critiques! ToT And the fav!

i see ... hm... you could put the symbol actually as some sort of filler in the middle, but a bit more subtile so it doesnΒ΄t stand more out than the character... and you could also add the webadress type as some sort of deco to make it look stylisch.
Maybe like axll99 mostly does, maybe that would fit.
And sorry for the typos, its late night here , i think my brain is already asleep.

Those colors in the skin are terrific, but the one thing that bugs me is that her torso is really short.
