Description
Please be sure to visit 2D Forever if you haven't already! (Maybe visit it again?)Panzer Dragoon Saga, one my all-time favourite games. In fact, the whole Panzer Dragoon universe was fantastic - even the more recent Orta was surprisingly good!
Here we have Azel riding her imposing dragon, Atolm. This is a scene from Panzer Dragoon Saga where you, as Edge (in the 3rd panel), first have to fight Azel - I can remember being amazed by the size of Atolm when I first saw him! After a while, Azel commands her dragon to let loose a fierce move called Berserker Rage. She calls out 'Ne-Rai' which roughly means 'Aim', but I always liked the meaning I once read in a magazine, 'Rain death on him'.
I've had this hidden away in my to-do pile for some time and I'm glad I took another look at it. The first panel was bugging me for ages, I eventually scrapped that panel and did something completely different. I love it when that actually works.

Noooo! The ending is perfect as is open to however you want to accept it. Perfectly weird for a bizarre world.
If you beat the game in 2013, did that mean you had to pay crazy prices to pick up a copy of PDS? Or just running a copy? I certainly wouldn't blame you if you are, it's amazing to see how much it goes for on eBay.

I paid $300 then (+50 tax (ebay is opposed to online sales tax, but they don't have full control) and $5 to get Disc 1 resirfaced.) Mine was complete in good condition. Now it goes for upwards of $500.

I really like this, the composition has a very cinematic feel to it. For some reason, the style reminds me of the Avatar, but that's just me.
I own the other three titles in the series, and I hope that someday I'll get to play Panzer Dragoon Saga. But because the game is super rare and commands a hefty price tag, this isn't so likely

We got ours when it came out! But I also found a copy in Okinawa for 620 Yen. Nearly had a heart attack finding it so cheap... I need to play it again and draw dragons. I used to draw fc panzer dragoon dragons all the time! XD

This is an under appreciated piece :<. I wish i could fave it a million times. I remember panzer dragoon saga fondly as one of my favorite classic games of all time.
Azel and her dragon were one of my favorite chars in the game.
You are so lucky you can relive the Dragoon glory days <3.

Oh its fine. I'm glad you found the time to reply . It's broken ;x; and sadly Saga and Orta are the only ones I never actually owned.
I'm still thankful I got to experience Saga all the way through. It will always be a game I fondly remember.
Shame that new life will never be breathed back into Saga.

I'm a massive panzer dragoon fan
Atolm Dragon is maybe the most interesting looking dragon I have ever encountered in a video game.
I remember back in late '98 when I first brought down Craymen's flagship (very proud actually of that -it only took a few lasers and one Energy Prism) then of course that great theme music ("Atolm Dragon") came along and BOOM! One big black growling hunk o' dragon that sent me to the bottom with Berserker Rage.
I found PDS in the local Gamestation in 2006. Just searching the Saturn games out of habit as usual. I missed that game so much. I actually FOUND IT!!
The only time I spent £80 without thinking about it hehe.
Unique biomechanical artistic design in those games.
Hope to see more of your Panzer fan art xx

Oh god, the memories, the lovely warm memories. I haven't been active at all on DA for like a year now but I just had to leave a comment on this. It's one of the only pieces of Panzer fan art which actually deserves a cheer. 13 years on and im still completely infatuated with this series. Good job again .

Oh god I love you. I'm sure you've already heard every kind of praise under the sun for this, but really. It brings tears to my eyes at the nostalgia. Of course I know that other people have played it, but this picture feels so personal XD Somebody else experienced the split second change of strategy when you knew it didn't matter if you were waiting for your gauges to charge up to let loose a chain laser on his tail, you had to get the hell away from those red bits on your compass XD
Do you know what I'd really love this as? A print. This is the first time ever that I have actually wanted a print, that is how much I love this

Excellent, I'm really glad you enjoyed the piece and got the same feeling as I did whenever I play through PDS -- which is a lot.
As for a print, I'd LOVE to make it a print, but by the rules of DA (and rightly so), prints cannot be made of fanart. Sorry I can't help you there, but thanks for the great comment

Awesome work, it compliments the series unique visual style very well.
I did always like Panzer Dragoon. Sadly, I never did get to play Saga (even though I liked the Saturn, I never did own one), and just hearing reviews and watching videos on Youtube show me how ahead of it's time it was. Of course, do to Saga's sad fate (the original code doesn't exist anymore and the few number of copies made, it's only made more sad by the fact two team members died during development), and the fact it costs an arm and leg to get on ebay (maybe even more), chances are I may never get to play it.

Aww, I didn't know two of the team died during it's development? Wow, even more respect for such a great game.
I treasure my copy, it's pretty damn mint condition despite the endless play through's I've done. Definitely one of my favourite Saturn games, if not all time favourite game.
Thanks for the nice and informative comment!

Awesome! The Panzer Dragoon universe is awesome in it's wierdness and desloate feel. Love those games- I've managed to play them all except for Saga (in which I only ever got to play the first disc that came free with a copy of Sega Saturn magazine). Really wish I had!
Great image anyway!

Oh, if you ever get the chance, play through the rest of Saga, it's by far the best one. Dont know where you could play it though... I dont think they've made a Saturn museum yet...
I totally fell in love with Panzer Dragoon Saga after that 1st disc was given out with the Saturn mag. I loved Panzer Dragoon before that, but I didnt know how cool Saga was going to be
That aside, thanks for the nice comment (It reminded me of when I 1st played it!)

Awesome job. You have a great sense of realistic facial features.
That was seriously an awesome series. I haven't played it in a while, but I loved it. This totally makes me want to fanart.
I see you're not into cliched video games either then? Good, good, I like your way of thinking. Reminds me of something I saw on TV the other day about trying out new games. The lady was talking about how people will pay so much for a new sequel to somehting like Mario or something, but barely any will just try out new things. Hell, most of the games I play, no one has even heard of.

A very lovely display of the graceful detail upon the characters and creatures of Panzer univerise. What ireally love about htis piece is soft attention to detail that is expressed in a comic book approach through facial expressions and body language. The soft touch of detail and excellent character model really gives it energy and makes us feel apart of Panzar world.
the final scene of this piece is perhaps the best one for it feels that there is alot of detail of light tones upon the two dragons. The variation of hues on the skin, jaw lining and tusk is simply excellent and the addition of the male on the mian dragon is excellent and jsut proves how striking these dragons are.
A fantastic tribute towards a classic Sega Saturn game/Xbox title. As well as the fine improvements and gift you have for the style of art.
Keep it up.
