We have many projects that encourage our awesome members to give comments and get comments. These projects involve workshops, features, chat events, contests and, more importantly, systems that rely on interchange, inclusion and interaction.
To both give and get comments is no easy task, but, with the many projects that we have here, we hope that you find something that works best for you. If not, why not make a suggestion by noting us?
Additionally, if you have any questions or anything else at all, please do not hesitate to contact us!
Our Values
Our awesome admins and members give comments and get comments with the following values in mind:
Interchange
…to restore balance – comment for comment, positive and negative, give and take.
Inclusion
…to accept all
Where you start and what you do in ProjectComment is entirely up to you!
We don't ask our members to comment 24/7. We understand that life is busy, especially when it takes time, effort and more to give and get constructive comments.

Thanks for inviting me! This looks exciting and helpful. I'm just a bit worried about the word minimum. I'm all for giving constructive criticism, but 6 or 7 lines seems like it might be a bit difficult to obtain. We'll just see how things go, I suppose! I'll try my best!

That is why we have produced this article of questions, written with the intention to guide you in your constructive commenting should you need additional support.

If you'd like to submit to our gallery, we ask our members to write a comment on a piece in the gallery first before submitting their own art for comments.
For favourite submissions, you don't have to comment.
We also have projects in our journals that you can take part in by jumping right in and/or signing up.

Thanks for the invite, it sounds interesting and I think we can all make each other better if we just talk a little. We don't have to agree but sometimes just hearing ideas from others can make your next project far better than your last. I'm new to DA (I just started to use it again this year because my gallery was wiped to years back and I don't know why!!!) I'll learn more about groups and site functions as I go! Howdy y'all

Ah, for example:
If you would like to give one comment, and get one comment, of 6-7 lines (200 words minimum), please give one comment on a piece in the Give & Get 1, 6-7 Lines folder .
If you would like to give two comments, and get two comments, of 7+ lines (300 words minimum), please give one comment each on two separate pieces in the Give & Get 2, 7+ Lines folders .
Link us to the pieces you commented on on our front page, and if the comment is fine, we'll accept your piece into the gallery so you can get comments.

I'll be trying to give the best criticism I can manage! However, it may take me a while to do so, since gathering the courage to comment on things takes me a while
However! I do have one question, as I'm a little confused over one aspect:
To get two comments, rather than one, all you have to add to your comment (after you type out the critque, of course) is either the group emoticons or a group link? Or is there more? I just want to make sure, so I know to submit an artwork to the right place in the future. vuv''
You'll also have to forgive me if I make a mistake somewhere - groups on DeviantArt are still pretty confusing to me haha, and I'll probably mess up somewhere along the way

Thank you for commenting! Yes, the site poll presented a great opportunity to invite like-minded people!
That's perfectly fine. Commenting constructively takes a lot of time, effort and more, so we don't have time limits, activity requirements or anything like that.
If you'd like to get two comments by submitting to our gallery, you give two comments on pieces in our gallery and link us to the pieces you commented on. You can link us by posting on our front page (as you can see others have done) or by noting the group.
The group emoticon/link is to give artists a heads up why a constructive comment just landed on their piece, and help our moderation team.
No worries about the mistakes. Better to make them if we learn something from them. Sometimes, that's where the best lessons are learned, depending on what you do after.

Ahhhh, okay, I get it now. I suppose the way this visual guide had been set up kind of confused me pff, but thank you for clarifying! I'll make sure to keep this in mind!
One last question I have is if this community is just art-based, or if you can submit writing as well? I have quite a few of my own original stories (though I only write small blurbs/scenes from them) that I'd love to get critque on, but I haven't seen much writing in the gallery. It's alright if not, I'm just wondering :0

We accept all art, as long as DeviantArt accepts it. We have a few literature pieces in our gallery, but our gallery is representative of DeviantArt as a whole. The ratio between visual vs. written is tipped towards the visual. I understand it's difficult to get people to read literature, much less comment on it, in this community, and it may be better to go with a literature-focused group if you find that this one doesn't work out for you.
