Description
We amount to nothing. This is the simplest truth you’ll find on this page, we are one of near 7 billion people on a planet. If someone was chosen out of that 7 billion, just one, to receive any sort of notice or boon statistically the chances of you being picked are squat. If one person were to die, as people have a habit of doing the world would not stop turning, 1 in 7 billion isn’t noticeable, their friends and family will mourn their passing but the rest of the 7 billion probably won’t even realize. We’re one planet, a small planet that is roughly 11 times smaller than Saturn our solar systems largest planet, we’re dwarfed next to it yet even more so by the sun roughly 100 times larger than earth. Near it Earth is but a pebble floating in its gravitational pull. When viewing the whole solar system we barely register as a dot. You are one of 7 billion on a pebble floating around the sun.
Our Galaxy contains roughly 30 billion suns in our arm of this galaxy, the Milky Way. Each one roughly sun-like and each one with planets similar to Jupiter, roughly 27 billion of them, with many smaller ones like earth in amongst them. Our sun is a marble in an industrial sized bag. You are 1 in 7 billion, on a pebble that floats around a marble in an industrial sized bag.
In our galaxy the milky way spins with many other arms in a spiral, within this spiral there are countless other suns, too many for scientists to even estimate with any degree of accuracy, it’s like an oversized truck hauling crates… an undefined number of crates. You are 1 in 7 billion on a pebble that floats around a marble in an industrial sized bag packed into a crate of bags stuffed into a truck.
In the entire universe there are an undefined number of galaxies just like ours. The universe is either infinite or constantly expanding, either way new galaxies are constantly forming, or an infinite number of galaxies already exist, like a highway packed bumper to bumper with trucks as far as the eye can see, no matter how long you walk next to the road. You are 1 in 7 billion on a pebble that floats around a marble that sits inside an industrial sized bag packed with other bags in a crate stuffed in an oversized truck with an undefined number of other crates, in a traffic jam of trucks filled with the same thing stretching as far as the eye can see…
Can you even begin to contemplate how infinitely small that is in relation to the universe? If our whole planet died no one would notice. If our whole solar system died, no one would notice, if the entire Milky Way vanished still no one would notice, our entire galaxy would have to completely disappear for it to make a tiny dot of light vanish on the giant map that is the universe. We amount to absolutely nothing, no one else cares about us and statistically speaking never will.
The only person that will care about our planet will be us, the only people who will care about you are your loved ones, the only difference you, a spec of dust on a planetary speck of dust on a glactical spec of dust in the universe, will make on anything is the difference you make to your loved ones, so take care of our world, take care of yourself and take care of your loved ones, don’t fight with your brothers and sisters regardless of their looks or personal preferences because if we don’t look after ourselves or our planet no one else will, no one will even notice enough to care…

This I liked, the end was nice, but I more liked the getting there though oddly enough. As I read it played out very well in my mind, almost like meditation.. erm if that makes any sense.

Thanks, I don't really like the end, it's more something I tacked on to finish it than anything...

Yeah, it originally didn't intend it to be depressing, then as I got towards the end I realised it was so that last paragraph was an attempt to turn it into a positive message... thanks for the comment sorry it took so long to respond

Very insightful indeed. Makes you reconsider the possibility of alien intervention. If we are so minuscule why would they bother?

Well chances are they're just as minuscule, if they happened to come across us they might make contact, provided they contact someone intelligent first (our presidents and, in Australia's case, prime ministers are out). The chances of that they'll chose the half of the world that has an IQ in the double digets are 50 50, combined with the chances of running into us out of the hugely vast space makes the chances pretty slim.

ahhh man this is so true. And all these people that think they're the centre of the universe.. show them this and they'll wake up to reality
it's kinda depressing really lol... we're all so miniscule and meaningless.
I enjoyed reading this though

Thanks, I know it is a bit depressing... in fact it originally wasn't going to have something like the last paragraph in it... then I thought it was a bit depressing and lacked a point... so yeah...

Very cleverly written and very, very true. Not saying I agree with you (which seems to becoming a trend ), but this is very true.

Well I suppose I can't expect you to believe in other planets, after all science is the one who tells us their there , but let me ask you, what are the stars? just out of curiousity, if not balls of gas burning billions of light years away

Not just that, but also the idea that we're nothing.
That we can see al this around us and yet we are only something to the people around us and not to ourselves...

Oh we're plenty to ourself, our entire world centers around ourselves, since we're always with eachother if that makes sense, I'm just trying to get people to see how infintally small we are from the eyes of the universe, just to get people to stop thinking about ourselves for a while and think about the rest of the world for a moment.

When I get sick my body gets messed up so my mind tries to balance it out by coming up with alot of random thoughts, most are rubbish but occasionally things like this pop up

wow!!! this is so touching... but it's true, the only ones that care about us and all is us ourselves... but in the end, i guess that's all that matters...

You've got it exactally... the only problem is we don't all take care of eachother, racism and hate will tear us apart one day if we're not careful and no one will notice.
