But they have been breaking patterns. Like not starting in the first town, no Brock, and Pikachu not getting sick in episode One or Two. Not to mention Clemont is getting Chespin instead of Ash. This may be the one. The one of whom the prophecies spoke. Only time will tell.

i know the feeling. i mean, it's the only starter his catching and that last time he did that, which was Treeko, it evolved all the way. so i'm crossing my fingers!

It depends on the personality of the Froakie. Oshawott's personality was a playful goofball, so it would seem weird to see that same personality as a Dewott and Samurott. What I really want to know is why Snivy never evolved. Snivy's personality is more mature compared to Ash's other Pokemon and most often acts like an adult. It's not hard to imagine it as a Serperior. If I want to see Froakie evolve, I think it should have a character that wouldn't seem weird as a Frogdeir or a Greninja.
