Well... With all the Thundershocks, Thunderbolts, Volt Tackles, and any other Electric attacks I may have missed that Ash has tanked, he may have memory issues.

To be fair, it isn't Ash's fault he doesn't know "who's that Pokemon"... The fault has to go squarely on the producers of the show, as they always tend to make Ash look insanely stupid whenever a new generation comes out and when he goes to a new region.Β

If i can remember this alongside the whole lyrics of Bohemian Rhapsody and Bat out of Hell, the correct way to pronounce my year 7 drama teacher's surname (miss Koncewitz - cons-a-vitch, had her about 11 years ago) and the names of every Pokemon and their correct spelling (not on the spot but by picture i could easily give you all of them) all alongside the general knowledge of life and the educational knowledge that got me a Computer Gaming Degree
I'm sure they can at least dedicate some time to even check if Ash has scanned a PokΓ©mon he's already met and how familiar he would be with it

To be fair, the PokΓ©dex is frequently updated with new information. He could have scanned it out of curiosity of what could have changed, and just done it impulsively.

Possibly, or it's because new audiences haven't seen one, but it still remains that Ash has travelled a long way, they shouldn't pretend like he doesn't know what a Lucario is
