Description
From the very beginning it was clear
That nothing could change the future,
Not for me.
I fought against the tide
And rallied troops to my aid,
But none of it mattered.
The future had been set long ago
Back when I was still a child,
Searching for peace.
I needed something to fix
What others had destroyed,
But future handed me peace.
What use had I of peace now
Too far ahead and set apart,
I already found it.
Past began to influence the future
In ways that hurt more than help,
I did not need peace.
The future would not listen to me
Not even if I begged on my knees,
I almost gave up.
But I could not be a coward
Like those that had come before me,
I stood my ground.
I fought against the darkness
Harder than anything else I had done,
But I got nowhere.
There was no escaping the future
That had been so carefully planned,
It was over.
Yet I pushed it back further
Trying to hold it off as long as I could,
I could see the end.
I vowed to fight the future
Never stopping for even one second,
But it still trails me.
The future will never stop its work
Hoping it can defeat me,
Once and for all.
I will not let it hold me back
Even when it catches up to me,
I will not fear.
