I know the feeling. every time I open the request lines and i think my schedule is accomodating, my instructors cry "'SUP NIGGAH" smack me down with 20 pounds of essay and research, and the requests i try to work on gather dust. AND I'm suppossed to be working on my portfolio for the art institute. By the way, could you give me some guru-tips on figure drawings?
try and reply soon, because Brawl comes out tommorrow and I will be doing absolutely nothing else for a week.

Oh lulz - figure drawing.
Welllll, I've learned a bloody lot of ways to do it in the last year or so, and they've all only kinda helped. The one consistent message I've gotten is that you have to go with the flow. Don't tense up or your figure will look tensed up. One thing everyone does is hold the pencil or pen in a way that is intentionally different from how you write with it. It loosens up your muscles and lets you work off your arm and shoulder (rather than just your wrist).
THAT aspect is just to get a cool pose going. The other half of the equation is knowing how to construct the basic human body using simple shapes (you don't get any simpler than circles for head and joints and and lines for arms and legs).
