I love Batman: The Brave and the Bold. The camp, the thick blocky style, and the deep dives into DC canon, it’s an amazing show. In tribute, I have redesigned some classic DC villains.

First off, it’s Agent Talon! At this point, I have posted so many Talon drawings you’d think it was a dedicated Talon page. I went less for the Victorian-owl-ninja look in favour of a more Cold War spy vibe. Is the Court of Owls kind of redundant with the League of Shadows kicking around? Yes. But, I feel Talon brings something extra to the table. He cleanly fits into the archetype that Bane was awkwardly squeezed into for the Rise of Dark Knight, that of a dark mirror to Batman. As a gadget-using, hyper competent, creature of the night, Talon is a perfect nemesis for Batman.

The Court of Owls was ancient before it reached the shores of America. Through the rise and fall of countless dynasties, kingdoms, and empires, they had mastered the arts of manipulation and sabotage, but they found in Gotham, a burgeoning colonialist settlement, an ideal place to prepare for the new age of industry. From their shadowy roost, the Court of Owls sank their talons deep into seats of powers, both old and new. Assets that could be controlled were turned, those that could not were eliminated. Curious, that so close to their goal, so close to completing their venture of world domination, that a little bat finds its way into their nest. Bemused, the Council is forced to activate their oldest, most proven agent. There was not time for subtlety, the schedule could not be delayed. Batman would not survive the night.
