This is just my opinion, so do not take this to heart.
But I feel like this does not really deserve a DD. I'm not hating in pixel art here, but I do think it would be pretty darn easy to make a circle, shade it, add eyes, and make it blink. I have seen a lot of pixel art that is quite great and definitely deserves a DD, but they don't receive one. Instead something like this , with such simplicity that probably only took a day to make, receives one!
There is plenty of art out of deviantart that is astounding and breathtaking, and in MY OPINION this is not one of them.
That is all, please do not get angry with me, as I have the freedom of speech, and I am only stating my opinion on this.

I respect your opinion and even as a pixel artist myself, I some what agree that this isn't the most advanced emoticon out there. However I'd just like to point out that a Daily Deviation is just a feature, nothing more.

I'm not saying they asked for it, I just thought it was weird a simple emote won over so many other pieces people worked long and hard for. It's a good icon. Not trying to say it's not good.

Don't mind the people who are saying that this isn't art. If they are willing to make that comment, I would like to see them do better, and not just point out what they think is better. Everything can be better than anything according to multiple opinions. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean nobody else does. In this case, the CV thought it was good enough to get a DD, so she did. I don't see how hard it is to understand when something gets featured and this happens.

Exactly! Some people are so thick-headed that they think that only painterly or fancy photoshopped art is deserving of their attention.

even though photoshop work (not bashing it, it is good) but without many of its fancy effects and blurs the art would not look as good

To me an artist is one who expresses themselves and respected all type of art styles as well as able to take on advice and critics (not the ones who just post mean comments)
