Well if you actually put effort into it it takes hours...

i find pixel art easy, and hard at some point. it all depends on your experience, patience and concentration. i know small chat emotes can take hours to create, i've made a few that have. I've also made one specific piece which took me 3 months to finish.
Giving a recent example of my own. i was awarded a DD for my emoticon chess board. Which took around 10-12 hours. whereas my circus of trouble piece took a month. which proves that the quality of the piece is also an important factor in choosing DD's
Hater's are going to hate, it's their desire. Just let them carry on, it'll fuel their selfish wants and make them feel better about themselves as they can only think that certain art mediums are worthy of a ''Daily feature''

I'm surprised this got a "DD" -- Surprised, but not mad, or disagreeing to the fact. Things like this are so stinkin' tiny, and you must need such a steady hand (at times at least), though I'm just assuming. I'd never have the patience to work with something like this.

Why such a things getting a DD? Sorry me, but...i just dont get it. I dont think that this is SO hard and originality to make smiles like that. In my opinion - its not deserve a DD, there is much people in Deviant that worked much and hard for months to make a beautifully work and didnt get a Daily Deviation. Not like this bunch of pixels.

I have no qualms with pixel art getting noticed like so. Pixel art, in my opinion, is very difficult to execute, not to mention rather time consuming. I'm not judging the quality of this piece and in no way am I trying to be rude, but I have to agree with you: I just can't comprehend how a simple little emote would get a Daily Deviation over every other possibility. The expression is well done and everything, it's just nothing exceptional in my opinion, and it certainly doesn't make my skin crawl.
But congrats to the artist all the same. It's an honor to get a DD, and like I said, I'm not hating on this piece. It IS a very well done emote. XD

still almost all art is great art, no matter what the medium is. I've tried all kinds, photography, traditional, literature and pixel. not that i'm actually any good at any of them (although i stick to pixel as i find it fun) doesn't reduce the fact that each of my pieces are special in their own way. why should chat emotes be any different. we all use them and most of us appreciate them (you being a dramatic exception to this).
and finally, emotes can take as long as a drawing may take, one of my older pieces took 3 months to make, (planning, research and drawing). so before you judge something which isn't your specific medium, try to think of things from the person's perspective.

What good is it to make an emoticon that no one can use? It's a wast of time and effort.
Someone should make a PLZ account out of this. then it can be used.

Granted that my be true, but for those who don't utilize the "dAmn" chat system, it's pretty much useless as an emoticon.
I understand that people enjoy creating them, but if we can't use them without permission, how do we then use it on the dAmn chat system?
Do we have to have permission for each and every emoticon we're going to use? And how will you know if your going to use a certain emoticon ahead of time while on the dAmn chat system.

Just fyi.... not everyone wants their emotes made into plz accounts by whoever happens by. Instead of saying someone should make a plz account or this is useless blah blah whatever the eff you said... maybe you should ask the actual owner of the deviation to make a plz account. I know I don't like my emotes made into plz accounts by anyone but myself and I have only made two because people wanted to use them and made it known. I have made it quite clear anyone who makes them but myself will be reported. Maybe you should try getting a premium account instead of complaining.
Also you know if you have permission because most emoticonists put in the artist comments whether one has permission or not. They'll either type it out or put , or some variation of those images.
If you think emotes are pointless if you can't use them... then don't bother commenting on them, looking at them or otherwise sticking your nose where it damn well doesn't belong. Some people do like emotes to be art and just that. Not something to use. If you're so interested in being able to use emotes... there is a This or That emote pack contest that emoticonists are entering that will have free to use emote packs for everyone. I suggest instead of ruining someone's good day you stick your nose over there and have a look at something. Unless of course you want to bitch about all those emotes as well.

That kind of argument is slightly flawed. It's like arguing that people shouldn't post paintings unless I can hang them above my fireplace. That's how that piece of art is used. Art doesn't necessarily need to be used for the most obvious purpose to be appreciated.
Also, to use emotes on dAmn, you don't typically need permission, as the thumb links to the original deviation.
