Description
They came home like usual. Johnnie headed for his room in the back of the house to drop off his backpack and Jose to the kitchen to get a glass of water. Almost immediately Jose heard Johnnie calling."Jose, bring me the fly swatter will you, please?"
Jose set down the glass, grabbed the swatter off the wall and hurriedly headed back. Johnnie was standing in the doorway with his hand held out but his body facing the room.
"What is it?" Jose asked trying to see past. "Fly?"
"Wasp," Johnnie corrected.
Jose cringed harshly. He was allergic and deathly afraid.
Weapon in hand Johnnie ventured into his room waiting for the evil flying thing to land. Jose shuffled in the door, but Johnnie could barely spare him a glance for his attention was intent.
Finally, upon the decorative paper, high upon the wall, the intruder lit and WHAM!
Down came the swatter upon it. The wasp dropped down to the ground then immediately flew back up.
Two boys squealled as Johnnie turned back to the door.
"Run," he yelled. Jose needed no further encouragement as out they both went, quickly down the hall, through the dining room and entryway until outside they were, slamming the front door behind them, bent over and laughing so hard, fighting for breath.
"I left my water inside," Jose finally said.
"Oh well," Johnnie consoled, still snickering.
A few minutes later, they both returned, Johnnie cautiously entering his room holding the swatter like a medieval sword, Jose right behind him, carrying a rolled up newspaper he'd gotten from the front porch. They found the wasp in the closet already dying but desperately trying not to. One more good swat then it was scooped up with said swatter and carried to the bathroom before being flushed unceremoniously down the toilet.
"Oh well," Jose muttered and Johnnie was snickering again.
