Description I think this stamp says it all.

There is a big difference between using logic to base ideas in, to ignoring logic completely.

So to all the Fantasy and Sci-fi writers out there, give your story the respect and love it deserves and keep things reasonably logical. It's to you and your story's credit that you do this. Using logic makes the story more believable and shows the readers that the author cares about their story.

Support logic!

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!!!

And I'll add that the same applies to art in general *has seen too many "original characters" who's features mock logic*

I thought you would. X3 It's a fact of creating a good story that people should listen to. u___u

Yeah, art can fall into a similar saying too.

I can understand to a point if the writer/artist is just a kid who's still learning. We've all had moments were we created a character/wrote a story that was Mary-Sueish, but you're supposed to mature OUT of those trends, not continue them in a horribly repetitive loop. > <

There are only a few exceptions but even those have to be consistent with themselves Xp

I absolutely agree with that. It only shows that person lacks maturity >>

Consistency is good (though it's very rare, sadly). Do any exceptions come to mind? Please share.

Yeah, and being immature is not good for growing as a person and expanding your mind and talents.

Wonderland is a good exception. And dreams and other "mind based" places

Yep, yep, even as a person. I know too many cases of adults who act worse than children nad have grudges for the stupidest of reasons D<

Ah yes. That is true. Though those stories can get very very trippy that my mind needs time to recover. ^__^;;

Indeed. -__- They need to grow up. Xp

"Scenaristic shortcuts"? Huh, never heard of that term before. Can you define it, please?

Oups, bad traduction of an expression I usually use (I'm french and my english is pretty bad).
It's when the author makes an totaly "unlogic" event (or miracle ^^) happens for helping him to continue his story, without real explanation (the "easy way" to continue the story)(my french expression for this is " un raccourci scΓ©naristique").
Geeeh... Have you understood ? XD (but can give you some example )

No worries. Your English is fine. ^__^ I get what you mean. It's so annoying when people make a move like that. DX It hurts their story not to mention makes themselves look bad.

From what I can deduce, the author either:
1. Knows they are taking the easy way out but does not care.
2. Does not realize they are doing it because they are inexperienced (though that excuse can be used only so far).
3. Or they are lazy and did not bother to think of a better idea or bothered to research.

All are potential story killers (not to mention logic killers).
