Description ThatΒ΄s my first illustration to the Sci-Fi roman "Solaris" by Stanislaw Lem. It shows the first scene, the arrival of the protagonist on the planet Solaris.

Graphite on paper, canvas bit bigger than a4. About 15 hours of work.

I agree with the previous critique: the split-screen technique is VERY effective. I'm no artist, but I am a Stanislaw Lem fan, and this piece of Art definitely "feels" right to me.

If you wish to improve upon it I have a few modest suggestions: 1-To the left you might want to blur somewhat the distinction between cloud and ocean, i.e. add some clouds that might be features of the ocean, or perhaps not...making the latter seem a little less familiar, a little more alien...which is the whole theme of the novel, after all. 2-In the novel Kelvin is trying to get in touch with the Solaris Station as his capsule is approaching, and so you might want to give an indication of that to the right: for example, if you add the outline of a face you might want to add a microphone by his mouth or the like. Otherwise, perhaps some kind of antenna linked to his astronaut's helmet?

This is really great! You've clearly put a lot of effort into this and it's proved very successfull!
I think using the black and white colouring is very effective, but i wouldn't mind seeing this in colour, i think it would be very effective and eye-catching!
Also, you've put a lot of detail into this, but there are certain things that are lacking in detail; i.e. the computer screens, that could do with detail if you were willing to put the time and effort into that.
I like how you've done a split screen, as it were, it's very interesting and effective to have them side by side!
Great job!
