Description
Treelogy Part I "A Process in the Weather of the Heart"Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Size: 5in x 5in
A process in the weather of the heart
by Dylan Thomas
A process in the weather of the heart
Turns damp to dry; the golden shot
Storms in the freezing tomb.
A weather in the quarter of the veins
Turns night to day; blood in their suns
Lights up the living worm.
My first attempt at a painting in close to 10 years. I started small. VERY small. This painting is 5 inches by 5 inches. Used acrylic and gloss medium on canvas. Getting away from designing and drawing on the computer and actually using my hands to create something again has been very liberating. Seeing the way light falls on the painting as you move it around, revealing the glazing layers and textures, there's an actual sense of real depth that you simply can't achieve with a computer screen and a print out. Final painting was scanned and completed the painting in Photoshop to do the fiddly bits I couldn't do because of the small size of the canvas.

Thanks Jamiee - I've actually been working on the followup painting to this for the last couple of days. Hopefully done later this week, but it's really hot here at the moment so painting in acrylics is murder as it dries so fast. Atleast that's my excuse if it turns out bad!

Neat! A followup eh? Im actually looking forward to this. Is it small liek the previous one or a bigger one?
>.>" yeeks that is a killer. What i do sometimes, (silly, i know) but I turn the room into a freezer with 16C in my room just when I want to paint ^-^ That way, the heat can no longer interfere XD bahhahh
(im not saying do the same) but work with some cold weather around you when you paint ^.^
Other than that, you and I can surely agree and blame the heat for that matter! >.<"

Ha! You have the same problem with heat, good idea to cool the room. I bought some drying retarder medium to slow drying down on hot days so I'll test that first before I start freezing the room
The new painting is larger, I think 18x24 inch or around thereabouts.

yeh, good one! always good to try the rational ones than the extreme >.<" hhhh
Ah! that'll be good for you, to try gradually increase the size of the canvas. ^-^

Great job, and welcome back to the world of traditional painting (: I'm glad someone else feels the same way I do about it.

thanks Ristia - I hope to paint more often now that I've broken the drought. I never want to go so long without creating a physical painting ever again - it's just too rewarding for the soul to create a real product

Thanks Abglanz! And you're right, it is a little too perfect, but I guess the tree is not just a normal tree, or even represents a normal tree, or.. well, you get the idea
