I'm a little worried that this piece is going to be too busy. I'd probably rework the composition if I had more time. I'm going to pay special attention to only leaving light, thin detail lines in the small leaves in the background.I might also consider a crosshatched shadow on top of the "spiny" leaves to help the flower stand out.
