This is my entry for the "Psychedelic Treasures" club's contest to make something to use as a webcam picture or ID psychedelictreasures.deviantar… !

So I thought I'd go all out with the colours. This contest was perfect for me because i was aching to do something really colourful after a run of black and white..ish ones.

Looking for inspiration I started listening to music. After going through my most psychedelic stuff I put on a song I listen to pretty much daily and thought "hey! this song is pretty grand and colourful and sunny and works well with what I've got" (those were the criteria lol). The song was "Luv Your Life" by Silverchair and i was going to call it that but changed my mind.. If you've ever seen the video clip for it you could tell i drew inspiration from that.

I knew the style that i wanted the psychedelic stuff to be in but had no idea what it was going to be or how it would fit in a picture.

So I came up with the old gramophone and then everything fell into place. I went the surreal/cartoony way after originally intending it to be more realistic. I just love the idea of this absolutely massive gramophone on the top of the greenest hill, surrounded by the other greenest hills, in the middle of nowhere, in the late afternoon sun...doing this lol. How cool would it be to see it!! oh the scale (its probably not easy to tell) : i tried to make it as though a tree would be halfway between the base and the actual record..

Damn scanners and their grainy translations of coloured pencil haha. But Im pretty proud of how it ended up. Hope this makes up for how long i take between submitting stuff.
