So a friend of mine convinced me to do a certain meme for the fourth time XDHere are some progress sketches on it since it'll probably take me awhile. I love the top right one ^_^ These two are really sweet.

Whom do these characters draw inspiration from physically or characteristically?

It's a little hard to say, but I think physically they draw inspiration from Don Bluth's work (The Dragon's Lair DVD game to be more specific).
Characteristically the firefly draws some inspiration from Navi from Legend of Zelda. He's mute, so he makes all these exaggerated expressions and movements to get people's attention when morse code doesn't work. Has a really bubbly personality, but gets frustrated easily.
Spirk is a silly knight who takes on these impossible missions to try and prove himself. In ways he's also like Charlotte from Charlotte's Web. A gentle giant who cares deeply for those around him, but is seen as terrifying or a danger to outsiders. He's valiant, loyal and is generally a calm character, but will snap if you hurt his friend. Hope that explains them a bit ^_^
