Born in 1611, Kearns is currently 407 years old.
He skirts the line between apathy and ambitious, usually falling more towards apathetic. He courted Michaella for 176 years and planned on asking her to marry him when she turned 400. Things didn't pan out so well, as he was involved in a major struggle with poachers the night before Michaella was caught in the fox trap unbeknownst to her. He has run out of energy to help Michaella and, being a demon fox himself, was incapable of opening the fox trap anyways.

While Kearns was content with staying alongside Michaella and fighting to the end with her, it would inevitably end in both of their demises. Kearns elected to pretend to run away to save his own life, when, in reality he was searching for help, and found it in a small cat. Kearns got Sparkz's attention and led him to the trap where Sparkz saved Michaela on his own, nearly losing his own life in the process while Kearns could do nothing but watch on from a tree, as he had used all of his remaining energy searching for help.

When Michella had Moho, Kearns volunteered to raise him. Because the truth surrounding why he ran off the day Michaella had met Sparkz would help nobody, as they could never be a couple until after Michella became immortal, Kearns never explained himself and Michella refused to demand an explanation.

As a thanks for saving Michaella's life, Kearns crafted the phantom paw for Sparkz to protect him. It is unclear as to whether Kearns wants to be immortal or not. He was more of an older brother to Kearns than a father figure and never told Moho 'no' or attempted to discipline him.

Michella despises him more than even Sparkz.
