It's like I said before...Mayan and Geiger. It's such a strange and unique combination!

Yeah, Mayans and Aztecs are almost like Greeks and Romans, very similar cultures with common origins.
You're welcome.

Thanks Adam! I have a fondness for reaching back for inspiration through ancient cultures. There is something timeless, and almost alien, about Maya art. I've actually got a whole series of these I'll be uploading.
I really wanted to express some Lovecraft in this work, and I like the end result

Great mixture of Aztec overtones and Geiger-esque style. Kudos, my man!

Thanks! Although the inspiration is Maya (not Aztec). The image is actually loosely based the Maya Deer God, but I saw it more as a subterranean, Lovecraftian beast.Β

Interesting. My mother (who teaches Mesoamerican history) would be ashamed of me right now....

Mesoamerican History! Awesome!
Don't feel too much shame! There is a lot of overlap with deities, style, and influence between Maya and Aztec art. Think of it like the Romans borrowing and renaming Greek gods, and finding inspiration in their art and architecture.
Recognizing the differences between the 2 cultures takes a practiced eye
And the deity I referenced in my work is kind of an obscure one.
