Traits:
+ Hardworking, Mature, Witty, Selfless, Passionate, Responsible
= Ambitious, Determined, Noncommittal, Self-Conscious, Religious
- Workaholic, Self-critical, Self-sacrificial, Gullible, Temperamental, Neurotic
In Depth:
Cheyenne is propelled by her ambition above all. Making herself better and therefore more able to help others has been a guiding goal for the she-wolf. That said, her ambitions do not stop there. Though she recognizes that there is always room for self-improvement, Cheyenne strives to make her pack the best it can be. She does this the best she can from her current position, but secretly, she thinks she could work wonders with a seat of power. Her tendency to work hard makes her seem like a good candidate for this sort of job - there is a darker side to it, however. Those who know her will often notice her falling asleep almost seconds after curling up in her nest. Sometimes, she won’t even be found in her nest at night. She drowns herself in the work - her almost unhealthy desire to get more done is egged on by her nagging self-criticism and fleeting moments of self-doubt. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say she is quite neurotic. If she can’t get a job well-done the first time, maybe her next task will have better results. Or the next. Or the next…
Another one of the tan wolf’s main traits is her religiousness. She feels strongly about finding your Song due to her experience with it. She believes that no one should feel the fear of abandonment, the anxiety of not being wanted because of an unknown Song. This has driven her to have a strong sense of responsibility as well. If she’s given a job to do, she’ll do it. This isn’t to say she will take jobs from everyone else without batting an eyelash - though you can often fool her with an excuse about having to see a family member or feeling sick. Cheyenne’s gullibility only extends so far, however, so you’ll have to make your deception at least plausible. Sometimes the wolf can root out tricks more easily than others. It can fluctuate quite a bit depending on the day.
When a problem arises, there are likely any number of wolves who can help you solve it. Everyone will have differing methods, but some are prone to acting less than their age. Cheyenne is not one of these wolves. She usually responds maturely to any sort of issue - to a point. Everyone has a limit. Cheyenne does not necessarily have a weak resolve, but there are some things that just make her implode. She may be a pretty face, but her temper is an ugly sight. She gets the difference between a joke and an insult, of course. It isn’t as if she’s still a pup. Sometimes, however, she decides she’s tired of playing around. If you’re unlucky enough, you’ll get a verbal whipping that will sting far longer than any physical wound. For a wolf who usually puts the good of others first, she can be awfully nasty to those she often does favors. Her criticism is never truly unfounded. There will always be something she honestly dislikes about your persona laced within it.
That being said, Cheyenne can be charming if she wants to be. Her wordplay tends to garner a reaction, even if it’s only a pity laugh. Though at times her humor may seem odd, she uses it to her advantage. It’s easier to get away from an awkward topic by making a fool of herself. At the very least, it’s certainly a distraction. Making herself the butt of her own joke is not the only way Cheyenne can and has been selfless. When her pack is threatened, she will prioritize giving others backup over taking down the enemy. While it isn’t out of her strategic options to simply go for her adversary, the she-wolf will stick to her pack’s ideals. If a wolf is going for her packmates - or, Ancestors forbid, the Coven or Council members - she will risk everything to defend them. When she became old enough to serve Na”em, she made a promise to it and herself. She will do whatever it takes to bring her pack to prosperity; to ensure the happiness, health and freedom of its members. The collective is always of greater importance than the individual. Her packmates are snippets of the whole - the things she is trying to protect. The reason why she fights so desperately for the place that she has always known.
Despite her undying loyalty to her pack, Cheyenne fears commitment. She fears she will not be true enough to her promises. That she will revoke her word, for one reason or another. She barely ever takes on any major commitment, preferring to remain open and neutral. That is one of her more undesirable traits. It may have been influenced by the fact that her pack prefers staying neutral. While Cheyenne will help solve a problem between two wolves, she is hesitant to take a side in an argument between a pair of her friends. Though the most important things to her are likely her pack and self-improvement, the she-wolf also worries about what others think of her. After all, it isn’t possible to judge herself objectively. She may be biased one way or the other.

Pre-Group History:
Time Long Past
The Songs of the pups had resonated in her head long before they were born. Slowly but surely, fragments of music wove themselves together, trilling in a comforting harmony. She knew she was destined to have pups one day...that she would find the perfect partner to have them with. This was what she told everyone, anyway. Not all entertained her dreams. To most wolves in her family, her being in a relationship was a disaster waiting to happen.
“You obsess over every little thing. Look, we love you, but...sometimes you’re just absolutely maddening!” These words were spoken by her brother through gritted teeth. He sighed. “Just don’t get distracted from finding your task by this fantasy.” The she-wolf was wounded by the words he spoke - mainly because they rang true. Honest criticisms hurt the most. In the end, she was able to get her Task of Storyteller. She noticed that another wolf had recently gotten the same task as her.
“Got any stories?” was the way Adeline first approached him, snippets of music dancing in her head. The next time they met, it was in the early morning as the sun rose on the horizon. From then on, the two Storytellers seemed as though their stories were meant to be spoken together. Family and friends noted that they were almost always together. It was no surprise, then, that they soon became engaged. It was a happy day that Inti and Adeline sung the Song of Marriage. Not long after, Adeline made her way to the Place of Life in order to find her pups’ Songs. She didn’t have much trouble discovering the music. Three pups were delivered - Bluff after the Northern territory, Iara for their father’s sister, and Adelaide for the pups’ mother. Inti insisted on the last name.
The pup-songs were in Adeline’s head long before their birth. That was what she whispered to them as they wriggled to her belly, hungry for their first meal.
Pre-birth
The pups of Inti and Adeline took their training with as much seriousness as a child can. There were still giggles and shared glances as Inti and Adeline taught them of Na”em’s ideals. For now, that was all the training they would receive, at least until they received their tasks. The period of time between when they were pups and juvenility was a rather uneventful one - Adeline didn’t mind. Finding Inti and raising a few pups was enough excitement for her. Early on, Iara seemed eager to follow her parents’ path of a Storyteller. Bluff, however, desired something more ambitious - he was known to pester Merchants about the details of their job. Adelaide, unlike her siblings, had no inkling of what she wanted to do as an adult. One thing I know for sure, she thought to herself, is that I’ll be great at it! This confidence carried her to her young adulthood. Now she was lost. She still had no idea what she wanted to do.
But there was thing Adelaide did know - she attracted the gazes of plenty of the wolves around camp. She was clueless as to why at first, but Iara was able to spell it out for her. A smirk adorned a honey-blonde face as the ignorant sister was made aware that her appearance was rather pleasing. Such a thought disturbed her - how would she be modest about such a thing now? Iara's lack of worry about this concerned her too. She didn't tell her parents of the exchange, for fear of getting her sister into trouble. Despite this, the honey wolf still made use of this knowledge in a way she thought would help her pack. Adelaide took her time getting to know each and every wolf of Na"em. In the process, she finally discovered what she wanted to do - she wanted to become a traveller. Despite the brewing threats of war, Adelaide wanted to see the world. Though there was one wolf in particular she'd be hesitant to leave.
Xavier was a well-built tan Na"emmi - though he lost his temper rather often around others, there seemed to be something about her that soothed him. On top of that, he could be witty if he wanted to. A casual afternoon meeting soon evolved into a late-night rendezvous in a quiet part of the territory. Iara congratulated Adelaide on her newfound love after she confessed to having met up with him quite often. Soon, they were engaged. They chatted during the day and shared a den during the night. Little did they know, there was a third with them.
Beginnings
For quite a while, the child was unknown. She was barely noticeable; invisible from the outside, save for frequent complaints of nausea. Before her presence was impossible to ignore, Xavier met his partner early one night, head dipped with guilt and hesitance. This put Adelaide on her guard. What he said to her, however, was unexpected. He told her, with slow words, that he didn't think they should be together anymore. She bristled at this sentiment. He said that he thought it would be for the better of the pack. They both knew that it was an excuse. She turned away from him with a grimace, her eyes misting. He could almost sense it, but her posture was all the warning he needed and more. Adelaide's body spoke for her. You've lost the right to comfort me.
She curled up tight in the nest she had once shared with Xavier. He could sleep outside, for all she cared. Adelaide resented the loneliness her body felt. At first, she wouldn't admit it to herself, but she could not stay by herself that night. By the time she realized it, the sun was close to rising on the horizon. She curled up beside her sister, who did not question the new, colder form in the nest. Iara supported her sister through the breakup, and was by her side as she welcomed an unexpected bundle of life into the world. Though she was comforted by her child - her beautiful daughter - Na"em's traditions hung heavy over her. Her pup was without a Song, and time was ticking.
Cheyenne was a happy pup, but the way her mother threw herself into finding her daughter's Song made the youngling anxious. Unlike the other pups, she didn't spend much time with her mother. Instead, she found herself hanging around Basil. He was a month older than her, but the bond they formed made it seem as though they had come from the same litter. Though Cheyenne understood Na"em's ideals, she didn't quite conform to them at that age. Her mother hadn't had much time to teach her. What she had gathered was from Basil, his mother and some of the other pups. If she had been more well-learned, perhaps she would have been more hesitant to be a part of the trouble they caused. At the time, it was half a way of distracting herself from her and her mother's problem.
It was close to juvenility that she learned of what would happen to her if her Song was not found. Her mother had decided it was best to prepare her for what might happen next. Of course, there was always the Allowance, but if that ceremony didn't have the right results...the mother shuddered at the thought of being separated from the pup. Cheyenne grew more anxious and distracted as the deadline for her Song became closer and closer. She tried to enjoy every second she had, but her newfound knowledge made it harder. The pup wondered if Basil would come with her if she had to leave.
There was a brief deviation from the norm - the landslide. Coven addressed the pack, but the words went in one of the pup's ears and out the other. Her mind buzzed with her own worries, and her mother reassured her afterwards that nothing would change too much. The site of the den would simply move. Still, the fear of change added to her current state of worry.
All this fear made Cheyenne almost forget the feelings of elation that came from running and playing with the other pups. But one day, while she was tussling half-heartedly with Basil, she noticed Adelaide approaching. It must be important, she had thought, if she's out and about! A smile adorned the face she had only ever seen with layers of stress. Cheyenne parted from Basil to approach her mother, who promptly embraced her. In that moment, she knew. Her song had been found. It was perhaps the best day of her life so far, and allowed her to focus on the days she would have in Na"em. Though there wasn't too much time left until she became a juvenile, Adelaide filled the pup in on Na"em's culture as effectively as could be done. Cheyenne soaked it up, eager to do as much as she could to conform in Na"em. To stay.
Juvenility
Basil remained a prominent figure in Cheyenne's life as she aged to a juvenile. The two learned together, played together, and were usually able to stop each other from doing anything stupid. Sometimes Basil was funny, and sometimes Cheyenne got him to train a bit harder. They were a good pair; they balanced each other out. The she-wolf made friends with other wolves, of course, but she had the deepest bond with Basil. Though Basil's father, Quentin, didn't seem too keen on them being together, Cheyenne didn't mind. Her mother seemed fine with it, so what could be the problem?
The two wolves were inseparable. That much was clear to even a casual observer.
One day, Basil and Cheyenne were taking a walk in the territory. It was a clear, sunny day, but Cheyenne still couldn't seem to find any scent from the hole they came upon. While she was careful about her approach, Basil decided he would leap in to investigate. The ditch was much deeper than he had thought, and Cheyenne was alarmed when she saw him at the bottom. She begged for him to get up, but it occurred to her shortly after that he wouldn't be able to get much of anywhere on his eerily crooked leg. He didn't seem to feel the pain of his injury until he dragged himself to his paws with a grunt. She managed to help him back to the dens and found a medicine wolf.
Cheyenne was relieved to hear that her friend would recover quickly. She visited him quite often, making sure he was never bored. Though a good deal of time was consumed by her visits, she got to know some of her peers while Basil healed in the medicine wolf's den. Her training was not neglected either - she made sure that she was as good as her peers, if not better. Basil struggled to catch up, just barely making it. She felt a bit bad about what happened, but she'd been assured that she wasn't responsible for it.
Taskless
When she became a Na"emmai, Cheyenne was eager to continue training. She wasn't quite sure what Task she wanted to take up, but Traveller and Merchant were both attractive options. Her mother, on occasion, would tell her stories about her father, a Merchant himself. One thing was for certain - if she became one, she would be nothing like him.
Things were constantly changing in Cheyenne's life - one thing she noticed that wolves were a bit more than friendly to her. Sometimes, they were just awkward. She suspected there was a reason for it; when Basil showed similar behaviors, she told herself it was just something that came with the age. It was a time of change. Deeper inside, though, her suspicions were entirely different. Cheyenne grew used to the awkward behaviors of her friend and others. It was easier to ignore when Basil did it, since they were spending a bit less time together.
An opportunity to travel came to the she-wolf in an expected guise. Na"em was traveling once again, going back to the Northern territory. Cheyenne was eager to take up the path. She could not say, however, that she was completely confident. There was some anxiety laced within the anticipation. What if something had changed with the mountains she called home? Basil and her mother reassured her. If there was a difference, they could cope with it together. Cheyenne was a bit hesitant to leave the part of the territory she favored, but in the end, it was a fleeting thought.
Just as she could start to ignore everything new, tragedy struck her best friend. Adrienne, Basil's mother, left for a hunt as a wolf and returned as a spirit. Needless to say, Cheyenne supported her friend as he processed his grief. It seemed as though his sadness left no room for awkwardness, though she would only notice this looking back. Something shocked the pack, too - finding the Place of Life ravaged by a Dread Spirit. Ice and water were a jarring sight, considering the grass and flowers that had rested there before. The only good thing to come out of it was the True Sign - a guide to a new territory. Na"em began their journey again.
Soon enough, things began to be normal again. As normal as they could be, anyway. The packs still harbored hostility towards each other, but there was a peace. She didn't quite mind it being unsteady. Besides, Na"em had other things to worry about. If the pack was fine, she too would be alright.
But she knew something was off when a wolf she barely knew approached her, a pitying expression on their face. A medicine wolf. Her expression froze in place as she followed the healer to the lifeless body of her mother.
Cheyenne had supported Quentin when he had lost his mother, and he seemed keen on repaying the favor. She was grateful for his support. Together, they braved the storm. They were together again, and for now, that was what mattered. They would get through the challenges they faced with each other's support.

- Cheyenne often becomes temperamental after mentions of infidelity.
- She preferred the southern territory over the northern, as the latter is easier to navigate with her build.
- Her balance is decent, but not incredible. She's likely to stumble or fall on a narrow passage.
- Though she won't admit it, Cheyenne isn't sure if she's willing to place the well-being of the pack above those she loves.
