Description Okay. Out of ALL the Animorphs fanart out there, I am under the impression this is the only one featuring a Chee |: Wtf, did no one really care about these guys?

For those who are adept at depriving themselves of things that rule, the Chee are androids from the book series Animorphs, created by the Pemalite race. They are freakishly powerful and strong, coming from a planet with much heavier gravity. Fortunately for the rest of the universe, the peace-loving Pemalites programmed them for good No Chee will do an action that might cause another being harm.

But this was pretty fun to do. The books never really gave you that specific a descrition of the Chee, other than saying they looked like "a skelatal dog walking on its hind legs--possibly a greyhound--with interlocking steel and ivory plates".

More specifically, this is fanart of the Chee who passes himself as Erek King. Just . . . minus the hologram A regular human boy woulda been no fun at all. But Erek was a sweetie

Come to think of it, I think that this is the only fanart I've ever seen of Erek or a Chee. Beautifully done! Animorphs was my favorite book series

This is absolutely amazing. (And the only picture I've seen of a Chee outside my own mind.. xD)

I really, really love your design, as well as the colour scheme. Very robotic-ish! Just, all of the detailed joints and parts and everything.. Very awesome! Great job! C:

I'm still busy on my mad quest to own all of the Animorph books DESPITE the fact that noone reads them anymore...

Nice to know that people can make stunning fanart out of the characters. Especially Eric. ^-^

Superbly awesome.
I pictured them a bit more streamlined, with larger individual plates, but I like this version a lot.
Definite kudos.
The anatomy is fantastic, I can really see it able to move, and it looks very realistic. 'Gratz. Srsly.

I must now comment, because I feel the need to.

I was in the RAF forum yesterday (an animorphs forum) and saw a signature with a chee's head (which now i realise was your drawing), so I just had to use it for my own drawing of a chee.

actually, I first thought it was an original drawing. (they have taxxons, yeerks, etc, so I thought, why not chees?), so I developed the drawing and felt accomplished. scanned it a hour ago.

then, I decided to check for art here on DA, and found your drawing. I was totally ashamed (of myself) to see the drawing I had taken inspiration (and head/neck basis) was something someone else did.

this is... really how I had pictured a chee, but had never been able to draw. my intake is quite different chest-down, but still. I know I won't be posting mine anyway, but I felt the need to explain and ask for forgiveness. I should have checked early about it.

so now I feel the need to ask for permission, in case I decide to post my drawing somewhere. I will credit you, of course.

this is just perfect, and I love it. truly. goes in my favs.

If you refuse permission, then it's ok anyway I promise I won't post it anywhere.

First of all, thank you for your kind words, and for bringing this to my attention Secondly, don't worry about it; I myself did a very similar thing when I first came to this site. It's an honest mistake. You certainly have my permission to post it where you please, so long as you do indeed credit me by linking back to this deviation's page.

Also, could you link me to the person who used it in their signature on those forums? I obviously can't do anything about them (and I'd have appreciated it if they'd asked beforehand, like you), but at the very least I like to keep track of where my artwork ends up. If you could do so, I'd be grateful.

Dude, this is AMAZING. I'm rereading Animorphs for nostalgia's sake (and I'm bored) and this is a wonderful interpretation. I was never able to get a good handle on the Chee either...I always thought of them as literally a skeleton only made of metal instead of bones. I think this is so much better. Wonderful job

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

A2wildFox In reply to uberlutra [2007-12-21 01:09:37 +0000 UTC]

Wow, thanks so much! Isn't that how they were pictured in the TV series, as the silver skeleton of a dog? I never got to watch anything past the first six episodes--wish I'd gotten to see more, sucky as they were compared to the books.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

uberlutra In reply to A2wildFox [2007-12-21 03:46:44 +0000 UTC]

I don't remember them even being shown in the series o_O I watched some of it but not all...I mean back then I watched it just for the sake of it being Animorphs (and Tobias was pretty cute...). I think I got annoyed because even then my 10 year old mind was angry because they weren't following the order of the books and were adding things and going all out of sequence, haha. But I remember Visser One being pretty awesome, what little there was of her, so you should maybe find it on youtube or something just for that

A2wildFox In reply to uberlutra [2007-12-21 12:50:25 +0000 UTC]

I did see Vissor One, and yeah, she was awesomely done But I coulda sworn I saw a little preview clip somewhere of a kid flashing into a dog skeleton . . . nah well If he didn't show up, all the better, since the apparently limited budget of that series couldn't have done him justice.

Wow! Very Good! THIS is what a Chee looks like. Have you considered licencing this great image to Wikipedia? Since you drew it, they might accept it if you licence it under the GNU whatever. (Just a thought, that's all.) During August, I put these up at the following Wikipedia talk pages.

At the least, just take a look:
[link] (Chee talk page)
[link] (Erek's talk page)
[link] (article on Pemalites)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

A2wildFox In reply to Dogman15 [2007-11-14 02:26:45 +0000 UTC]

Thank you ^^ And no, I haven't. Seeing as this was simply done for fun, and not for any official purpose, I would not be comfortable with saying that Wikipedia could use it as an image that people could reference to if they wanted to know what a Chee looked like--which, despite all the credits that would be given to me saying how it's my interpretation, is what most visitors would automatically think.

Likewise, I am flattered that you liked my image enough to use it on the talk pages, but could you please ask or simply let me know beforehand if you want to use any of my pictures for stuff like this in the future? I like to try and keep track of where my images end up on the internet--not that I'm going to be 100% successful in that, but hey, I'll do what I can [:
