Barry Manilow is a soft-rock artist who was particularly popular in the '70s and, I believe, early '80s. He was the guy who wrote Mandy, Copacabana and Looks Like We Made It (what I was listening to), if you're familiar with those songs, and according to Wikipedia he also wrote commercial jingles for State Farm and Band-Aid, among others.
You now know more about Barry Manilow than I am sure you ever wanted to know. BUT LEARNING IS GOOD!
