Description
A leg of a young elephant, which was chained in order to attract visitors... like me... unfortunately.I don't pretend to be a bleeding heart, but still, if I had the chance, I would spare myself visiting such a place.
Somehow this photo connects to my earlier one , though they were shot in different locations and different circumstances.

It makes you wanna do something about the situation. Seeing any animal chaired to anything makes you sad. It's strange how images can do this to you.It brings so much emotion without really wanting to, i think.

Thank you for sharing such a profound look into an elephants life, especially of one kept in captivity.
It greatly saddens me to see such things. I would rather see the animal in the wild than in a cage and chained to a wall. Elephants have always been at the top of my favorite animal list. They are one of those animals that never ceases to amaze me.
You captured a tremendous photo that creates overwhelming emotions in the viewer. Almost like you've found a way to dive deep into the hearts of others with one photograph and in doing so you opened them up to a new view upon the world and the meaning of suffering; possibly, anguish.
You have made me more aware of a great deal of injustice towards animals. Even though I love going to the zoo and seeing many of the animals I would never see in my backyard, I now feel a little guilty knowing that I go to the zoo for my own pleasure at the expense of an animals freedom. That is a little troubling, I must say, but you have awoken an awareness in my heart that I will never forget.

It means a lot for me to see many people and you among them to be touched by this picture as I was touched while watching that baby elephant trying to unleash himself from these cruel human made chains...
The zoo on the other hand is another story. There are animals in modern zoos which are kept there because they were saved from human destruction in other locations (mostly some third world countries). So going to the zoo is not a bad thing to do in my opinion, but going to a place like shown in this picture and cooperating with the owner, like buying from them some bananas to feed the poor animal (that's what the visitors usually do there), is like committing a crime.
