I think only the Zebras used Balefire, since it's "necromantic dragon's fire", if I recall, and Zebras were the ones that really specialized in tat.
That being said, I like the green shading.

Equestria had balefire and megaspell bombs as well. If I recall in either the core story or in PH there was a side-plot from the war-era about megaspell tech having been given to the zebra from within Equestria.

Equestria's megaspells weren't balefire... and PH only expanded on what was already a known fact in FO:E; Fluttershy's "treachery" of giving the details of megaspell technology to the Zebras. She was convinced they'd use them for mass healing and city-wide shields so no one could ever hurt the other again, and naively never saw the weapon potential.
Equestria was mentioned to use solar-powered megaspells to burn entire cities off the map, like the Celestia-1 that was eventually actually used in the story.
The original megaspell as designed by Fluttershy was mass-healing.

Equestria had megaspell bombs yes, but balefire is considered a purely zebra thing whereas the ponies are more refined and use directed magical energies to make combustion happen rather than dragonconic "hate fire".

Yeah. If i remember right, megaspells were generally attributed to Equestria, and Balefire Bombs Zebrica. Same principles, different ways of going about it. Β Of course, I assume there's some crossover. (I haven't really read PH, though. just the main story. Need to get on that.)
