It's not so much a language as a runic alphabet used by some Pagans to write their rituals and information. There are others like Angelic Script, Futhark runes, Ogham (a druidic form of runes) and a couple of others I can't recall the names of right now. There are several Pagan sites that give the translation keys for the various alphabets. All you have to do is put the name of the alphabet in a search engine and you should find a lot of resources.

I'm pretty familiar with runes. I use them for divination from time to time.
No one seems to know exactly who created Theban but some suggest it started in Thebes somewhere around 1200-1400. So it's not the oldest alphabet out there, but it's hardly new.

Yeah, it's technically Pagan (in the sense that it isn't Christian). Back in that time period there was still worship of the old Greek gods in Thebes, but it was going underground like a lot of old religions because Christianity was spreading and tended to violently wipe out other religious practices. Since no one is absolutely sure who created it, it's assumed some of those who still followed the old ways in Thebes used it to write down old Greek rites and practices since that's generally where it's found. Since it wasn't widely known (only hardcore language scholars had ever heard of it for a long time), a lot of more modern Pagans adopted it to keep their rites to themselves and away from prying eyes. For some of them it was actually a cultural thing since they were worshiping the Greek gods.
The set I have is the Norse Elder Futhark (24 runes). Some people use the Younger Futhark (16 runes). You should check out this article on Wiki-pedia ([link] ). It looks like it has the unicode versions of the Futhark runes down at the bottom so you don't have to go find a font to make them. I'll have to try it on my desktop machine. My laptop doesn't seem to like the unicode characters. I can't get even the copyright symbol to work on this thing.

I really need to go dig my book out of storage and get back into practice again.Since I stopped doing tarot and rune readings to make money for bills, I can barely remember what anything means anymore.

I pray most to Artemis, Ares and Loki.
I make poems for them all, and I'm working on drawings for the poem. I finished the Artemis one and now I drawing Ares one.

Best be careful praying to Loki. Word your prayers VERY carefully.
Who I work with depends on what I'm working on, but I tend to identify most with the Morrigan, Cernunnos, Artemis, Bast and Anubis.

Really powerful gods.
And I know, but I really like Loki as a god. Since I've beleved in him my spells have gotten stronger and my life has turned lucky. Thouch wood. te he. So I don't think his that bad at all.

Loki's like Coyote, though. Very, very tricky and often chaotic. I'd rather work with a god that's not going to suddenly dump me on my butt just because he's feeling prankish and it amuses him.

That's one of the things I love about him, you can't tell what his going to do next.
Bur remember he is also a loyal god to the people and gods that don't try to use him. So I'm fine.

The thing is, he's a god of chaos, and that means you can't depend on anything with him. Chaos is unpredictable. He's loyal as long as it suits him.
