Description "Ladies and gentlemen, due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to continue the broadcast from Grovers Mill. Evidently there's some difficulty with our field transmission. However, we will return to that point at the earliest opportunity. In the meantime, we have a late bulletin from San Diego, California. Professor Indellkoffer, speaking at a dinner of the California Astronomical Society, expressed the opinion that the explosions on Mars are undoubtedly nothing more than severe volcanic disturbances on the surface of the planet. We now continue with our piano interlude"

I'm a huge fan of Old Time Radio and there's probably no show I've listened to more than the historic Orson Welles adaptation of The War of the Worlds. This image is dedicated to the memory of Carl Phillips.

Me too. I listen to it frequently. If you haven't heard it, the Mercury Theater "Dracula" is great also. I think it's at archive.org.

Cool! I love WOTW in all it's incarnations...except ONE! And I think you know what I mean. Check out my WOTW senior project, in my DA gallery.

I have a few fun radio adaptations from Buffalo, San Fran, and NPR in NJ (I think). If you don't have them, we can arrange a little data transfer...

What's funny is that you posted this the night we rewatched Pal's WotW! A nice, iconic piece o' work.

I loved that program. Along with the Shadow and Jack Benny and, of course, Superman.

Old Time Radio can't be beat...in fact, I'm about to cue up some Green Hornet episodes right now.

Hi-Yo, Silver.

War Of The Worlds. The night that panicked America. Imagine if a certain TV show started with an old fashioned farm house. Someone turns on an equally old fashioned radio which introduces the War Of The Worlds. Cut to another house. A frightened woman comes out and calls for her husband. She brings him to their radio and they hear a later part of the program and thus believe Earth has been invaded by Mars. Suddenly they hear a strange hi-pitched sound. The man and woman race out of their house and see an Eagle landing in their field.

Koenig tries to convince them he's a human being. Unfortunately he brought Maya with him.

I was told you had an interesting view on life...I see this is true.

Actually, however, I love the tie-in with Buckaroo Bonzai.

You've got to admit it's an unexplored plot device. War Of the Worlds is playing. People are shooting at water towers thinking it's a "war machine." Just imagine if...

An Enterprize shuttle lands and out steps Spock, T'Pol, Data or Worf.

The Jupiter 2 lands and out comes the robot.

Moya from Farscape.

The aforementioned Eagle.

One wonders how the respective heroes will handle damage control after exposing their ships and "alien-ness" to early 20th Century America.
