Captain’s Log, Stardate 2267-02.27 – Captain Suvak recording.

While undertaking a routine geological survey mission on Calcibur IV, Intrepid received a non-emergency request for assistance from DSX Starfarer, an independent scout/survey vessel of Terran Registration. I ordered Intrepid to respond while my survey team completed its mission with the Shuttlecraft Cyclops.

Shortly after Intrepid passed beyond contact range, we made a most unusual discovery. While Calcibur IV was believed to be uninhabited, we have been attacked by a savage - but technologically advanced - alien life form which does not register on any of our instruments. Security Guard Churchill and Geotechnician Sparvet were killed in the initial ambush.

The survivors, Security Chief Nthanda, Chief Engineer L’Shal, and myself have retreated to the shuttlecraft and raised it’s shields. While Nthanda attempts to secure the area, L’Shal is attempting to boost the power of Cyclops’s communication system so we can reach Intrepid. Of course, in so doing we are forced to drain power from the deflector shields. I only hope we can arrange for recovery before the ongoing assault overcomes our defenses.
