Description Captain’s Log, Stardate 2267-06-16 – Captain Suvak Recording

Following the accidental border dispute with the Gorn Confederation in the Cestus system, diplomatic overtures have been cautiously received. After months of negotiation, the Confederation has agreed to high level meetings to be held in the Sigma Arcass system. Although a very desirable Class-M world with extensive mineral deposits, both sides have agreed to leave it undeveloped pending the outcome of negotiations.

At the request of the Federation Diplomatic Corps, Intrepid has rendezvoused with her sister ships Enterprise and Constitution and is proceeding to Sigma Arcass. It is believed that the natural of Gorn negotiations requires that both sides show their might as an indication of the worth of their words. Similar traditions were not unknown in pre-civilized Vulcan nations. To that end, Ambassador Tah'shahlek of Andor has taken charge of this mission from her post aboard Enterprise. It is believed that an Andorian psyche will be most compatable with that of the Gorn - a thought which I can not but agree.

As our mission here should be routine, we are taking advantage of a rare opportunity to cross-train members of all three Constitution-class ships. As I record this, Chief Engineer L’Shal has beamed aboard the Enterprise for meetings with her Chief Engineer Scott while First Officer Spock is preparing to meet with Science Officer To’Ral aboard Intrepid. At the same time, Helmsman Ralston of Constitution is running through a series of simulations with our own Lt. Commander Pfugg. Of late, the Tellarite has complained of finding his Vulcan shipmates … dull. Hopefully his time aboard a predominantly human vessel will improve his mood.

When I look at this from a slight angle on the laptop screen, it gives the picture an additional quality that is really cool

Ummm. Yeah. I worked hard to perfect that technique! Glad you liked it. No one else was keen enough to notice it!

really? you intended it?? Wow, that's impressive! I tried looking at a few of my own pictures from the same way and they just look flat. your picture ...I can't describe it except to say it has an almost 3D aspect. Shadows become darker or silvery, highlights become brighter. The halo around the planet takes on a more nimbus aspect... The colors have a greater gradient range that probably makes the 3D effect. Maybe it's the resolution or quality of the images you use...

I wish I could take a screen capture of the effect but that would just be a straight-on view.

hah! of course, though I wouldn't have noticed it either if I didn't have the grandaddy of all back spasms and was forced to lay on my stomach and crane my neck at a weird angle to look at the screen that way to begin with! heh heh

Actually, I was being sarcastic. Any cool effects in any of my images are accidental.

I realized that and perhaps deserved it for not expanding what I meant better.

Starfleet's Finest play chicken .

Nice shot - and towing a planet into a meeting has got to earn them points for style .

Well, it worked in the Lensmen books.

Speaking of which, here's something funny I just learned. When they did the Hal Jordon remake of Green Lantern and added all Oa stuff, the writers actually denied knowing ANYTHING about Smith's Lensmen books. As the article I was reading said: "Star Wars? Hmmm. Nope. Not ringing any bells."

Thanks. I kept adding crap to the image, but in the end I pulled it out to keep the focus as it is.

Cool. Me thinks the Gorns will be wetting their nappies at the sight of these three pulling into orbit

I guess I have been inspired by all the cool ship fleet illos people have been putting together.
