Description I've had a few people ask me to do a tutorial.

In order to do glows myself I turned to yaoi-dealer [link] because I admire her artwork so much. But basically, credit to her for helping me along in my art and to be able to do art and glowing myself.

Enjoy this simple and easy to use tutorial on SAI Luminosity effects!

This is really great, and helpful, but the only problem I encountered was that the glow effect with luminosity doesn't work well when the background is a bright color...

Mine doesn't seem to have mode at all, and i'm not sure where to update, since I got the file from a friend

Thank you very much for this. Although I'm not quite that great at it, it helped me at least get the basics down so I can improve.

My version of SAI doesn't have any of these features?? I downloaded it for free from somewhere, and I had to hunt for brushes... I don't even have all the tools like the straight line/curve tool. Any help? I'd really like luminosity.

Maybe your sai is out of date.

Maybe? I think I found a new version that should work, but I haven't set it up yet.

It doesn't seem to look right to me, what setting do you have the air brush on?

Sorry for snooping, but is the layer s mode set to Luminosity? If so, does the picture have a dark background?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

iNsAnE-nEkOs In reply to Beginneratart [2014-10-29 15:28:50 +0000 UTC]

Yes and no. Sometimes it does have a dark background sometimes it doesn't. But it doesn't look right to me for sone reason, it's only looked right once

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Erik-Tan In reply to Amoryenar [2014-08-05 03:14:08 +0000 UTC]

You're probably using a light color, then. You should have some darker layers underneath it when you use luminosity. Luminosity is generally used to highlight another color. c:

what options do you use to have the line sharp at the end?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Erik-Tan In reply to ThePicWather [2014-08-05 03:18:21 +0000 UTC]

You mean on their line work? It probably has a lot to do with their tablet pressure settings. It helps if you just play around with the settings in Sai to find out what works for you, but this may help: www.deviantart.com/art/Paint-T…

My sai didn't have a 'luminosity' option... It has addition which I hear is the same, but when I use it, it just barely glows heelp

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

ZephyraVirgox In reply to Two-Tailz-Studios [2014-04-15 17:27:51 +0000 UTC]

you can try this:Β
create a new layer, set it to addition, use brush with low density (6~8) and draw

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

Two-Tailz-Studios In reply to Two-Tailz-Studios [2014-03-09 18:36:09 +0000 UTC]

Actually turns out I didn't even have 'addition' on. When I turn it on, nothing appears when I try to draw....

You need something underneath to put the glow on first.
