I've had a few people ask me to do a tutorial.In order to do glows myself I turned to yaoi-dealer [link] because I admire her artwork so much. But basically, credit to her for helping me along in my art and to be able to do art and glowing myself.
Enjoy this simple and easy to use tutorial on SAI Luminosity effects!

Hello, I think I can help you. In some versions of SAI addition is the same thing as luminosity.

I have the same problem sometimes with PaintTool, I don't know why that is. But I did figure out how to solve it: select the area of the canvas where you want to make the changes, using the square selection (right under the colour wheel). For some reason, one you've selected it, you can work in that area. When you 'clear' the selection afterwords, for some reason you can still work in the area.
It's not a very professional solution, and there is probably a more proper way to solve the problem, but hey, it works!
(Also,of course, make sure you select the right layer, and make sure it's on top)

Yes. Also, it works with the lasso. Actually, with a tablet, it's much faster with the lasso. But that problem is bugging me alot. I don't know why I can't just use luminosity to luminize (lol idk xD) my picture. Mainly hair.

I cant get the effect to come on the actual Canvas! I did all of the steps but it wont pop on the canvas and I can only see it on the tiny icons on the left! Can u help me?? TT^TT

I think your problem is that the new layer you put on, it was under the original layer so it wouldn't show.

hey (: maybe you can held me. I always use this glow thing. But if i open the file in photoshop it didn't looks glowing anymore ): And ater i opened it with photoshop, Paint Tool Sai can't save it as png or jpg anymore. I'm really angry about this and i don't know how i do all layers to one. The 'Merge Down' Funktion also destroy the glowing effect -.-

When I get to step 3, When I use the air brush, and I have the colour I want selected, instead of it being green its grey..Any Ideas on what I can do? : o

Whenever I click Luminosity, it goes white.

You need to have at least one layer already before, with at least something drawn on it. Then make a new layer, color it in, then click on luminosity.
