Description
I've had a few people ask me to do a tutorial. In order to do glows myself I turned to yaoi-dealer [link] because I admire her artwork so much. But basically, credit to her for helping me along in my art and to be able to do art and glowing myself.
Enjoy this simple and easy to use tutorial on SAI Luminosity effects!

I really don't have that luminosity on my sai. Maybe because I use portable SAI?

Try the addition setting on your blend mode. Other versions differ in naming several options and other settings. ^^

Hmmm yes I saw some forums that says that i could use addition instead of luminosity xD
Thank you!

I'm a bit confused, I have the luminosity feature and everything is all set, but when I use the AirBrush tool, it makes the color lighter and it only goes in the area I colored, even though I placed the layer above the lineart. What were the settings that you used?

Make sure the layer isn't a clipping group or preserve opacity tag. A fresh layer over the lineart is the only thing I made. Hope that helps cuz I don't know the problem if not.

for some odd reason when I try to use the luminosity layer, it just does it white instead of the color i'm choosing...any suggestions? It also doesn't give the same effect as this X.X.

Shade layer mode? Never heard of that. I'm not sure why some SAI versions don't carry a luminosity selection.

The one that's like this: —3/4^Ä
Lol.

chi-u In reply to Raitei044 [2011-01-14 08:15:46 +0000 UTC]
lol thats the same with me Thankyou!!
Although.. when I set the layer/blend mode to luminosity (or -3/4^Ä lol) it does nothing.
Would it automatically add a 'glow' to whats already on the layer or do I need to change some other settings then draw on the layer?

If you have the base color down, you must create another layer, set it to luminosity, and then use the airbrush like stated in the tut..

chi-u In reply to Raitei044 [2011-01-14 08:44:43 +0000 UTC]
I did all that, but when I draw on the new layer set to luminosity, it just has a solid line like the default airbrush

Raitei044 In reply to chi-u [2011-01-14 11:53:21 +0000 UTC]
I don't get why that happens. Maybe decrease your airbrush's density.? >.>
