Description
Modeled in cinema 4d, grooves were created in photoshop, comp in after effects.The tossing movement was made using regular rotation / position keyframing, with some spline control for the slower bit, the falling movement was made using dynamics and a lot of customizing to get the neutral touchdown right.

Thanks, the bounce should have been slighter, but somehow it felt better to leave it this way because it takes a longer time to settle.

You should make a version of this video that shows the outcome and have it be randomized. Then you'll never have to flip a real coin again.

That's a good idea, I thought about making it rotate forever after it touches the ground, or fall neutrally on the edge and stops there.
I should add a different one for the other outcome but it took 14 hours just to make this one

If the start of the animation shows one outcome and the end shows the other, you could run it backwards.
