Description
I'd like to consider this a bit of a guide or summary for creating animatics, based on my research and experiences with animation over the semester. Some of the notes may seem a bit obvious, but I still hope this is helpful!Related content

Hello ! ProjectComment here !
I have no knowledge in animation, so I will only tell you if you guide is understandable, and I won't "put your teaching in another perspective" or say what could be improve in the content.Β
This is very clearly explained, and I like the fact you give references, softwares and everything. I read the other comments, and I must say the first person narrative is quite cool in my opinion. It shows these are YOUR tips to get better and that it is taken from a personal experience. It doesn't confuse anything, in my opinion.
I would only spend more time explaining the "storyboard part" since it seems to be a huge part of the process. Give examples of what we should and what we shouldn't do, to be exhaustive and complete in your explanation. Moreover, I would illustrate the ideas a bit more, to show in a concrete way what is expected from the animator. Text is more precise but can be very difficult to imagine in the concrete (spl ?) world.
Lastly, I think your document is HUGE. It is a bit bothering because we haven't any "global vision" of the tutorial. Try to write smaller, but add some illustrations, additional tips and other things, as I said it above.
It stays a good work, and I am sure you're going to improve on these minor problems !
Good luck !

Hello, thank you for your comment!Β I'm not sure what you mean by global vision?Β I appreciate the suggestions and will consider them during future projects. Maybe when I want to make a more comprehensive explanation (with plenty of illustrations).

Hello again !
What I meant by global vision is that you are not stuck in front of a paragraph, and your screen can contain a whole part of your development for example. As the font you used is quite huge, we aren't able to see a big part of the tutorial at the same time, and it can be confusing because some people (like me) like to see the whole thing and then concentrate on details. Does it make sense now ?
I hope so ! Good luck !

Hello!
This caught my eye because it's a piece about animation (I have no experience with it, but I always enjoyed reading stuff about it^^). It's nice that it's written from your perspective - in the first-person perspective and written in the way you would speak to person. Your guide is easy to understand and give helpful tips without going into unnecessary detail. Though you have minimal drawings here, they help illustrate the points well. And the bunny at the end is adorable!
What can be improved:
- Content: Because you wrote this in the first-person perspective with the 'spoken voice' tone, the personal commentary at the start of points 1 and 2 kind of clash with the tone of the tips you give right after. This can cause some confusion and makes it harder to distinguish whether this is a personal journal with the tips you picked up while working on your project or a simple how-to guide/advice piece with commentary. I think putting the personal commentary after the tips would make it more clear.
- Style: Black text on a white background makes the piece seem too much like a formal school report (and stresses my eyes out since I'm reading this on my computer). The infographic you made about air pollution was very nice to read because the background was black and the letters were white. Giving the background a darker or neutral color like you did in that piece would make this guide more eye-catching and it'd be easier on the eyes to read through.
Overall
This is a short and sweet, clear commentary and guide to animation for beginners, The layout is clean is easy to follow. It was nice to read your personal experience with animation! Good luck with your project!

Yeah. I tried to make it a little more clear that this is more of a personal journal through the introduction, but your suggestion on where to put the personal commentary seems to be a good idea! Thank you for the comment.

Clean layout for your tutorial, which made things easy to follow.
You use the word "animatic," but from your tutorial it seems like you were making an actual 2D animationβrather than the preliminary draft of a movie/animation that you will eventually create (which is the more standard use of that term). Essentially, "animatic" typically means an animated version of the storyboard, working out the timing of shots and audio rather than just the sequence, and doesn't signify a final version of the project. For me, that was very confusing.
I liked your illustrations, but you might be able to add a few more and have some that are less decorative, more communicative. Think about ways to visually convey each key idea such that even if I didn't read the text, at a glance I'd have a rough idea of your main point(s) for each section. The story structures visual is one example of where your visuals effectively enhanced and reinforced the message of the tutorial.

Hello, thank you for your feedback!
Could I ask what specifically made it seem like I was making an animation, rather than an animatic?
I considered what I did to essentially be an animatic, since I laid out my storyboard and added in a few additional frames because I had time (which is not mentioned here), then added sound.
As for your comment on the illustrations, I appreciate it and will keep it in mind.

Mostly, the title ("First Experiences With Animation") and at the end where you say you're bringing your short project to a close--sounds like it is the final production, even if it isn't frame-by-frame fully animated (there are animation styles that don't go for realistic motion).

Pretty useful since I am a beginner in animation.
I ave to say, it surprises me to see more and more people use Krita. At first I was one of those hipster few, now I see it everywhere! Not complaining though, Open source was a heaven sent for me and I'm sure it is for a lot of others as well!

Thank you, I'm glad you think so!
Krita seems like a good program, I'll probably spend more time trying to use it over the summer.

Thanks, I appreciate the comment.
Your friend creates 3D animations?

some of them yes , but others work for companies or made models 3d for little projects. The animation is not my thing ( i only draw XD). And youΒ΄re welcome always is nice to find people who help beginners in animation with this type of tutorials.

Oh, alright. That's pretty cool!
It's a little irrelevant, but I have seen a few of your drawings. The shading and attention to detail is inspiring.

This is very informative and will certainly help learning animators who have the good fortune to find your resource. I like the way that you have outlined everything and how it transitions easily. Great work!

No problem! All too often I see great things get passed up because nobody saw anything flawed that they wanted to comment on, and the artwork got ignored.Β
