Description An aggressively predatory forest dweller, the Bushwhacker makes up for its small size through patience and lightning fast reflexes.

Moving slowly along vines and creepers, the alien sneaks up on prey, and then stabs deep inside using its proboscis. This injects a dose of venom and is then retracted, so that the rows of cheek teeth can grip prey while the small mouth consumes the victim.

The Bushwacker has also been observed to hang in dense foliage and attack land living creatures in a similar fashion as they pass underneath.

This was done first as a pencil sketch before being painted in photoshop.

I think the fur is the best part, it's so smooth yet fuzzy, and sparse over the skin. Reminds me of lupine seed pods.

Holy Crap! The detail is breathtaking! If I didn't no better, I would ALMOST mistake it for a photograph!

fine fine photo. how you took the picture is a marvel. congrats.

btw, I just have two questions - the patch at the base of the Bushwacker's neck, and just behind the jaw (an eye? a scent gland)

have nice days.

Amazing creature. That would be one heck of a scary planet to go and explore...

Well think about our planet, Earth is full of just as dangerous creatures. In fact our planet has quite a few animals with similar predatory attributes.

True, if you were a mouse-sized alien trying to explore here pretty much everything would be out to get you...

Hell if you were a humanoid sized alien you'd still have little chance of survival, in fact if you yourself were sent out to some dense rain forest in South America it's unlikely you or me would survive a whole day.

I had to think of your comment when I read today that humans have like 160 types of different bugs in their guts. Any alien I think would just be wiped out by our bacterial and viral biomass and vice versa...
