The design of the shuttle reminds me of the movie District 9, but that's not a bad thing. Great colours and the composition works well.

Gah! Take this to Bioware or something so that they have truly ALIEN aliens in Mass Effect. The Hanar are a cool example, but everything else is a vertebrate!

quick question.
how is he supposed to get back into his ship? it looks a little high for him to jump.
i assume theres some pully system to hoist him up

The pulley system is extended out of the top of the exit hatch

fair enough... judging from all the pebbles on the landing site i'd say that may be a dried up lake bed

Very...magnificent. And lovely, too, with the Mars-like colors.
I was going to say the ship looks too complicated, but then I noticed this looks like two separate modules, which is actually very cool. And now I can't find anything to criticize

I have made a sculpture of the Birrin, but sadly as I am Australian I have no access to comicon.

they've become space faring? that's a rather large jump from your previous posts portraying them as tribal types... there's just a bit too much of a gap here for my taste... any chance we'll see some differing stages of civilization as well?
I really like the design of the spacecraft though!

Abiogenisis In reply to zypherax [2009-11-11 07:43:52 +0000 UTC]
On earth, there are tribes still existing in parts of Africa while other people are building the International Space Station. Technology is not distributed equally among cultures.

oh yes, I understand that perfectly... what I mean is... well, could we possibly get a glimpse of some buildings, vehicles, clothing, and any other technological aspect that is being used by the more modernised cultures living on this world?

Abiogenisis In reply to zypherax [2009-11-12 07:30:23 +0000 UTC]
I will do that eventually, the only reason I haven't is the difficulty. Drawing and entire city and technology is a challenge I am not sure I am comfortable with just yet. They will be in the book though.

allright, that sounds good then... I have trouble drawing cityscapes as well. but, I'm sure you could scratch out a few rough sketches of some simple building designs? if not, I understand compleetly, and I am looking foreward to that book!

He shows them committing genocide with modern looking weapons, although I'd like to see what their cities would look like with modern equivalent technology.

oh, yes, I forgot about that piece! but, I agree, it would be interesting to see thier architecure, transportation meathods, and clothing in a comperable 'modern' timeframe.

What I admire most about your work is how truly universal it is.
Birrin, Human, or whatever, the wonder of stepping upon alien soil, the sight of a new sky, the feel of sunlight filtered through different air-
-it is an experience that any sentient life could share.
