Description
A Headshot of a large predator from the Birrin world.Upper eyestalks contain eyes and ears, lower contain eyes and sensory tentacles.
Most creatures related to the Birrin have 4 'lips' covering their jaws. However in this case the upper lip has evolved into a head shield which helps the creature push through dense forest. The blue membrane is used for display and can be retracted under a shield when not in use.
The animal hunts like a large heron, snatching smaller prey by shooting forward its long neck. It swallows most food whole, or by tearing it apart with its smaller inner jaws and toothed tongues.

Thanks for the honest crit.
I might keep the body a secret, as this is part of a book pitch, however think of a long Birrin and that gives some idea.

Interesting creation
The design of the jaws is in opinion quiet innovative ... especially using the biger long jaw not only to hold the pray but also putting some spikes on it so it helps pushing the food down the throat o..o
any Chance you will draw the hole creature ?

The blue display shield, in this piece it gives off a feel of chitinous solidity. Is this how you intended it or is it a thin membrane? Great job by the way, superb rendering.

This is a wonderful design, all the structures look functional, evolved and integrated, nothing just stuck on to make it look "alien".

And we're back, haha. Great design, as usual. I like the blue head shield, and the explanation is good: simple, to the point.
I would like to see the sort of terrain it lives in; what sort of vegetation exists there? What is its size in relation to its prey and surroundings?

I notice it's also a deviation from the more "typical" three-eyed head design as well. Dose this mean it's less closely related to the other Birrin "vertebrates" we've see so far?

Actually, as the design of the Birrin is ongoing, they will probably now have this more logical 4 eyed design. So the next time I draw the Birrin they will look different.

Maybe 4 eyes are more logical, but reducing it to 3 is interesting specialization. And it may be peculiar contrast between primitive and more advanced species from this planet. You shouldn't change anything.

Well thought-out. AND great execution.
Still, not clear to me how the upper thing 'helps the creature push through dense forest'...

Basically when it folds it flat over its head, it stops branches cutting its skin.
