As much as I like the birrin, I must say I can only imagine they would be terrible underwater swimmers.
Animals with any diving maneuverability at all, usually are quite long and flat and have some powerful backward-facing appendage (human when swimming or laying, otters, crocodiles, etc), compared to the short bodied, long vertical-legged birrin.
It's hard to imagine a deer wearing a SCUBA system and swiming underwater to any success; even if it were really smart and trained to do so at the best out of it's anatomical possibilities... wouldn't it just float up and or be completely unable to turn?
Nice picture of course, the sardu is nice

They have genetic material, but it is not DNA, it is some other molecule.

Well spoken. The words make a great image even better.
I do wonder how it goes to fetch air; like a whale? a half jump out of the water?
They are awe inspiring creatures, those that you make.
You are a fine artist, and your creativity in the field of aliens is very interesting.
It is so that I'll watch you, since I wonder what else your mind will stirr up on the canvas.
Ps. I love this piece..

This is definitely one of my favorite alien life pictures. You can almost feel the awe the Birrin over there could feel.
I definitely find it cool that it's analogous to our species in the midst of an oceanic beast

it's amazing how thoroughly you plan out the biology and ecosystems of your creatures! and not only that but the history and culture of your Birrin. Are you planning on making a book or a comic about this planet?
Not to mention your artwork is great!^^

Wow, this is REALLY cool. I love the design of the Sardu, kind of a dolphin crossed with a pliosaur, or other ancient marine reptile. Its very cool and looks very, very believable. This should be in a book!
