Just amazing. Huge fan of the Birrin series... any plan for expanding the universe with a book / movie / story?

Beautiful! :D Your creatures are always so fascinating, I can barely take my eyes off of them!
I wonder, how deep do these animals usually live? And how deep can they dive? And and and whether they live groups or alone. 8)

They can dive faily deep, but they spend a lot of time in surface waters around this reef. However in the deep ocean they head into the abyss and use their electro sense to find and stun prey.

it's brillinat! definitely one of my top 3 paintings you have made! then I would count the "predator head" (I love how the "upper lip" became a crest, that's a wonderful idea!) and then the two smoking birrin in the blue room. I love that picture a lot.
I also really like the rectangular-headed whale-like animal you have drawn, and I think you should totally put it in color too, I am vividly picturing it thrusting above the water to make a huge splash like humpbacks do. that's one of the things I really like about your creatures, that they are so believable that one would think you have actually visited that planet and drawn them from reference

Ha actually this picture started out being the square headed creature, but after trying for a while to make it work it evolved into this! I am sure I can try again though.

Ah, I love it! The look and feel of the painting is great, and I love the creativity and ideas, and how they make so much sense!
I'm curious, are you a biologist? The reason I ask is that I'm never totally sure about the scientific viability of the stuff I come up with... :/

By same ancestor, do you simply mean that they are within the same class like humans and whales or are they closer than that?

Whales to humans sounds roughly right.
