Description
I drew this over December of 2014 when I suddenly got very into 'How to train your dragon's movies and series. I couldn't help imagining up an AU where Joel and Aiden are dragon trainers ;D

So the basic story so far is that the twins live on the outskirts of Berk in a little (shabby) house. Joel always wanted to be a badass viking, which led to him hurting himself with stupid antics. Come in his brother, Aiden, who was the one who would patch up his wounds.
One day, whilst they were out and about in the mountains, a Whispering Death appeared. It's digging underground caused a sinkhole and the twins got separated when Aiden fell in.
Whilst Joel was trying to find a way to get to his brother, that's when both of them met their dragons.

I looked up the stats and personalities of the dragons (not including dragons from the games, such as 'Rise of Berk ' and 'School of Dragons') to try and find the right companion that would represent each of the twins. These are the dragons I chose:

Eelbreath the Typhoomerang
Checking the stats of the dragons on the official site , it seemed like this big boy was the fastest dragon out there (other than Toothless of course). I wanted a fast dragon to correspond to Joel's speed and agilty. But what bowled me over was the personality description:
"Over-dramatic attention hogs."
And that's why I decided a Typhoomerang was perfect for Joel XD Along with the fact that this lizard is huge. Big enough to hold onto Joel's equally large ego, haha!

Blaze the Hobblegrunt
I considered to get a hardy and powerful dragon for Aiden to correspond to his weird strength. Something like a Rumblehorn or a Snafflefang. But at the same time, something that could translate to his meek appearance and soft heart. Stats show that the Hobblegrunt has got some of the highest attack and fire power while being very armoured at the same time. And looking at Gruff , his abilities and personality make him out to be a sweet, peace-keeper of sorts. "Sensitive survivor", "sensitive in shifts in moods of other dragons" and able to "send out a soothing signal to calm irritated dragons". Hardy and powerful but gentle. Perfect for Aiden. ;3

This was all so fun to work out~
I got some other sketches of these guys and I'm actually considering writing out a chapter for each of them, showing how they met their 'buds' ;D
