One often accumulates this disorder after occurring a negative event such as going to war, being abused, or almost dying. Some symptoms include invoked distress to anything pertaining to the source of the disorder, vivid flashbacks of said event, difficulty sleeping, memory loss, irritability, an acute increase in the feeling of being startled, paranoid alertness, and difficulty concentrating.

Like say for instance your attacked by a dog as a child, and he bites down on your throat and won't let go. Now every time a dog jumps in your lap you have a subconscious flashback to the event causing you to push the dog away. Or you avoid all dogs altogether, and every time you see one being walked down the sidewalk you cross the street to avoid it. That would be PTSD in the works.

Woah. That's pretty serious. So what would trigger Dave off? Sky or Scuba bear? Or just bears in general. Then again he didn't react much when Sky went over to them so probably bears.

well triggers don't always have to be visual. Anything from a word to even just a noise could set someone off. Though sometimes its just absolutely random.

this time is was triggered by a thought. Considering the situation Dave figured that his weaker past self wouldn't survive in a situation like this. This got him thinking about a past situation where he couldn't survive IE the bear mauling. If he had been stronger, better equipped, or had better survival skills he would have gotten away unscathed.

The thing about triggers is that there no clear cut case for what they can be. It can vary from a picture, a simple phrase, a sound, or even from just your mind wandering in thought. This time it was that, but if say someone said the word maul he could have an attack, or if they came across a bear in the woods he could fly into a panic.

Wow that must be hard to live with. So basically his trigger is his thoughts, the word maul, And bears...
