Description
I woke up this morning and shot straight out of my creaky twin bunk-bed (lower half of course), screaming "Holy crap! I have never done a seashell macro!!" Then I whacked my forehead on the top bunk and flopped onto the floor, softly groaning, "seashell.... seashell... " After regaining my senses, I raced to the hardware store, bought some crap, and built a big light-box. Then I hurried to the Salvation Army (I had some stuff to donate - not related to this photo) and then I zoomed over to the local camera shop and bought a new tripod head. I rushed back, fastened the new tripod head to an older tripod head (double the swivel/pan/tilt plus it takes my quick-release) and bolted it to a board, which I clamped to the light box that was once my dining room table. Thanks so much if you are still reading this. You're the best! Anyway, then I rooted out some seashells from a box of junk my daughter doesn't want anymore but still expects me to keep forever. A hundred or so shots later... I am done! This is an 8-shot focus stack, using a 100mm macro lens with a 20mm extension tube. I haven't really figured out what I'm doing with the focus stack software yet; but it's kind of fun anyway.Related content

Great story (I still keep some daughter-shells as well) - nice focus stacking. I am sure you enjoyed all the work for the setting. What's coming up next?

Thanks! Aren't children great for making sure we have no empty space left for our own belongings? As for what's next... I have no idea!

In some years time you will clean all the old stuff out of your house - into hers (for her kids)!

Thanks Erin! Hopefully all that work will pay off when it is too crappy to go outside. I can just find random crap to shoot and keep myself busy that way instead.
