Description
I spotted this migrating flock off the interstate just as the sun was rising. I lost an hour's pay while chasing after them - I would have given up the whole day if I didn't have appointments to keep.Related content

Thanks. I live near a pretty busy migration route, so twice a year we get some very full skies.

Oh dear, that's way more birds than I imagine when hearing 'a lot of birds' : DΒ
Awesome shot though

Yeah, we get snow geese and Canadian geese here and they are something to see. I got a few pics of them but its hard getting close.

Remarkable! This was taken at dawn? Love the different colors in the sky. Nicely done and well worth that hour lost.

Thanks - yes taken at dawn on my way to work. I'd been keeping my eye out because I'd missed a huge flock the last couple of years and I knew they passed through sometime in October. When I saw them this time I was almost ready. Next year for sure! Thanks for the fave by the way!

I especially love the color gradient in the sky.Β That's damn tough to capture.Β And I like how the birds and trees frame each other.Β

Thank you. I'm pretty sure this particular moment was a divine gift. As a photographer, I did everything wrong that morning - but somehow I got this one good shot. Those little birds were doing some amazing tricks, and I screwed up my camera settings, my angles, my timing.... but I got one good shot. And I got to stand in the middle of the most ridiculous aerial ballet anybody could imagine.

Even if the birds weren't in the shot, it still would have been a superb photo! I've never seen a rainbow sunset before!

Thank you! It was actually taken at sunrise, and I've noticed that right before the sun appears there is sometimes a subtle gradation in the sky that follows the visible light spectrum (orange through indigo anyhow). I think my camera just made it easier to see the shifts in color. Anyhow - happy accidents are always welcome in my world.Β Thanks for the fave, btw!!!

Not a prob! Every time I spot a stunning sunrise, I don't have my camera on me. :/
