Before you can all say anything, this is set post StarFox Command and apparently there was a war in the lylat system that was so great that weapons of mass destruction were deployed by both sides and ended up turning Lylat into wastelands of varying types (with the exception of fichina, titania and papetoon,) with Venom being reduced to a lava planet and sauria inevitably breaking up and exploding, wiping out the saurian races and further damaging the lylat system. all around in the space inbetween planets, the wrecks of mighty spacefleets litter the vacuum as a reminder of the war.

Star wolf failed, Star Falco failed, and with no StarFox to turn the tide of war in favor of the cornerians, the war got worse.

The capital planet Corneria is now a ruined husked of it's former beauty, once the pinnacle of a civilization that ruled over an entire system, now it's a wasteland devoid of hope, a future, and continuity.

Attempts by either side of the war to abandon lylat and recolonize on another wave been thwarted by both sides and in the end there was no longer any resources or ships left to do such action.

The Cornerian race is severely reduced with the different taxonomical families fighting now for survival. With the canines devolving to dogs int he literal sense that they fight over the carcass of their own home planet. since no emphasis is put working together as a united race as they were before, at that rate, with the fighting and full distrust between each other, cornerians will eventually kill themselves to extinction.
